jpz5142 Posted July 21, 2014 Report Share Posted July 21, 2014 Some pearls are just a luminous compound and some have a cover, the cover on a gen Rolex would be a sapphire lens. The modders around the forum talk of using a clear 2 part epoxy mixed with the luminous material to make a pearl and then some of just the clear epoxy on top to mimic the lens. With the 2 part epoxy you have to ensure exact 1:1 mixing or else any un-reacted epoxy will turn yellow. Also the epoxy pearl cover is not very gen like. If you are looking for a pearl for an older metal insert rolex model get a TC vintage insert and pop the pearl out of it to use.his insert is not very gen like but still nice as a replacement but his pearl does have a nice cover to it, not sure that it's sapphire probably glass.
