netniet
I am currently busy upgrading my watch tools, to some good quality tools, and I am wondering if this crystal press is any good. It can take dies from a Bergeon 5500. It looks good to me, but maybe the experts can help me. I found this on fleebay, and the asking price is around $140. automatico
It sure looks stout enough! One advantage with a screw down press is that you can apply slow, steady pressure to a crystal. I use an old BB crystal press and it is hard to get smooth downward force with it.
fraggle42
I would worry with a screw down press that it is far too easy to put too much pressure on. Would you just use very light fingertip pressure when turning the wheel? As I imaging that would translate to sufficient downwards pressure on the crystal. The downward pressure would be more determined by the threads rather than finger tip pressure.
