denimhead
Does anyone here own or can recommend a good lapping machine. Primary purpose is case shaping/polishing. Thanks Not sure about a machine but if you wanted to do it the old school way this is a great starter pack.https://www.cousinsuk.com/search-results?searchtext=lapping In terms of removing metal you'd need to go for a set of jewelers files and go SLOW!!! dbane883
Thanks guys. I have heard of Rocco and his god-like lapping skills. He is part or my inspiration. I'm wondering though if there is an alternative to the rare and expensive machine that he uses. Would you think a normal disc sander like this might achieve similar results? I imagine the 3M abrasive lapping discs are adhesive stickers and one could slap it onto a similar sized disc sander. Obviously I'd have to fabricate a more versatile work platform, but it could work. Just a thought.
Tim
What kind of metal flaws are you trying to remove? A high power machine is generally a bad idea unless you are very skilled. You can remove all of the routine metal flaws with a rotary tool and sanding disks at VERY low speed. The trick is to remove as little metal as necessary as slowly as possible.
