AP ROO Panda Silver Themes V2?

Recommended Posts

What are your opinions on the New AP Releases by JF/J12. Pure time has them on their web site.

Are they the same watches with updated leather bands and the new new stainless bracelet? Or are there other updates. Are they worth the steep price tags of $600 horn back or $700 stainless?

I have also read here and the there that the movement has been updated with the (Jewel Mod). Or at least something to help with the friction. I've been wanting a Panda and the Stainless bracelet is looking pretty sharp.

Thoughts from those that know?

PROs vs the Noob 42mm

- better straps and no holes deployant clasp

- better looking hand stack, closer to gen

- better movement reliability (not verified but heavily rumored)

- Sharper looking dial overall

CONs vs the Noob 42mm

- date font is ugly vs the Noob model

- no silver lining around the numerical markers

Issues in both J12 and Noob

- The numerial markers and lumed area of the hands in the gen are actually a deep grey, not jet black

- of course, the usual ROO flaws like date window position, crown/pusher alignment etc.

I just can't figure out how JF/J12 could have missed the silver around the numbers. It's clearly not a manufacturing issue as their new Volcano has the silver around the numbers. I took this picture from another thread. But you can clearly see it's silver. Has anyone received / seen the new Panda yet? Just want to know 100% they screwed this up.

Thanks!

One little perk for the JF version: running serial numbers.

I actually got the JF i prefer the dial with white contours on numbers.

Plus the only way a person can tell the silver countours on numbers is an owner of an offshore or someone working at AP. However, this very person would very likely notice by thickness of case back anyway.

All these mods are nice (re lums etc.) but people should focus on real flaws like caseback thickness / open casebacks (obvious tell)

UPDATE

the new batch on PT is including perfect silver countours on the numbers. my QC pics prove it.

Hope this helps in some peoples decision making.

Also the hand stems base are not perfectly round, unfortunately this seemes to be the case in V1.

Overall dial impression SUPER sharp plus you get the running serial numbers incase some wise ass knows the 8020 number...
