My Brother's Heavy Duty Seamaster Rep

My brother got his Seamaster from Paul about the same time I got mine (a bit over year and a half ago). He has absolutely loved his watch and have used it as a daily beater. He has been wearing his watch also when he did construction job in our summer cottage, swam with it, everything...

As you can see he's a bit rough on his watches. I said that I can polish and refinish his watch and he agreed. It really has some battlescars on the bracelet. I already aligned his bezel... and maybe some kind of polishing & rebrushing job is needed?

He said he hasn't even noticed the scars. To be honest it looks perfectly ok on his wrist... the pics exaggerate the wear. The bezel has some scratches too... and the pearl is gone. But this rep runs in COSC standards after 18 months of rough wear, constant swimming, showering and borderline abuse. I guess these watches aren't that bad...

And yes... I don't borrow my watches to him.

PS: Sorry about the lousy quality of the shots. I didn't bother to construct my setup as this baby didn't inspire me to any glamor shots. But it certainly is "handsome", don't you think?

Using it on the boat as a daily beater, I lost my SMP GMT pearl too.. I wish I didn't. It's probably resting on the seabed outside Lofoten in northern norway somewhere. ..kinda ironic when you think about it, fake pearl and all.

I'll post pics of my SMP when it's 18 months old.. It wont be pretty.

Yeah... the basic ETA movement is virtually bullet proof. I still wouldn't want to use a 7750-powered watch as a "Heavy Duty" beater.

The case and bracelet are very good quality on the old Seamaster Pro rep. I'm surprised that even the clasp clicks (and opens and closes) perfectly... it's often the weak link on these Omega reps.

holy crap! in 18 months with my rotation.......my watches will be worn 20 times at most. every time i take them off i polish or brush out any signs of wear! this would make me crazy! that's how an old omega i refinished for a friend looked from 5 feet away! but it came out like new.

here's how....a few tricks.

take a soft wire wheel to the whole bracelet, polish to a mirror shine the smooth sections, then re brush the rest with the bergeon glass scratch pen. it will be new again! oh almost forgot.....when it's all done, dunk it in some thick dish soap then run under hot water and scrub it with an old toothbrush to get it shiny and clean. some of the dish soap will stay in the links and smooth out the feel/take away squeeks. works great

the hands are discolored most likely from a tiny bit of water entering the case and steaming up inside. throw on some genuine hands and new greased orings and she'll be all set.

Yeah, I know the polishing & brushing method. Actually I did my own SMP using the TZ tutorial (see my SMP guide).

But I decided against polishing it. Most members liked the wear and so did I. My brother didn't care, either way. It's back on his wrist now... heading to new adventures (and dings, dangs & scratches). I'll shoot more pics after the next 18 months. Let's see how it keeps ticking.

funny thing is by-tor is that the pearl on that model can only be taken out from the bezel from the inside, so your brother must have either cracked it or soemthing for it to fall out...

again like everyone else have said.....thats how a watch should be worn.
