Planned franken 111N V3, questions.

Hi guys.

I was planning on acquiring a 111N to frankenize. As far as I've understood from my research, the 111 is pretty much a super rep out-of-the-box.

However, a great base watch is important if I'm going to franken it(thinking about gen dial and hands, maybe AR the crystal).

However, I have a few questions.

1. How big of a difference is gen crown/V3 crown?

2. How big of a difference is there between a stock swiss ETA 111N V3 from Toro and a Goin/Marlin modded one? Which is favored?

3. Is this a good idea?

Best regards and thanks in advance,

Rikard, rolex-franken-geek wanting to try out a PAM!

If you ask these questions, is it then really worth $1000 spent on a gen dial and movement mods? Imo, the noob is fantastic. Start with buying that, and if you can tell the difference between the noob and the gen dial - then make the investment. You can also send it on to Goin/Marlin later :)

Well, thats kind of what I'm asking, should i go with the swiss or modded goin/marlin? To start with. Feels unnecessary to buy it, wear it, send it to modder, wait, receive it, wear it when i can just buy the modded one directly, without the hassle.

But i do understand what you mean, absolutely. Unnecessary to go high-end as a noob.

However, I want to go high-end right away as i've been spoilt by my franken rolex watches.

Soo.. if someone please could give a guiding light in this endeavor, that'll be great! ;)

I was just thinking this very issue... mod out a noob and I even had a marlin movement with all the fine details looking like gen... but in the end...I just will take the plain noob v3. We are always trying to improve the rep to get just like the gen but on slow Sundays I have to ask why? Usually it is only us that even knows any of these details like a y incabloc...personally I think this quest is just a projection of an inner journey to fine tune our lives..our minds..and our consciousness.

For what it is worth...

I can mod the sh!t out of reps and have done so for a lot of clientèle in the past.

All my own watches (I also own a v2 111) however are practically unmodded apart from movement service, waterproof etc.

Why? Because the differences between gen and rep are so small it just does not justify the time and effort to mod.

No one knows of these differences and if they do they will ever come close enough to notice....

My 0.02 cents

Sooo... If i should stick with non-gen parts... Should I go swiss, Goin/marlin-modded asian or even Goin/Marlin-modded swiss? What is most cost-effective/reliable?

Thanks for your opinion!

You are missing the point. Buy a Noob V3 from any trusted dealer on this board and enjoy it.... If you have too much money buy what ever modded pam from whomever you like. Without an accurate description and/or pics of the mods you probably don't even see WHAT is altered.
