NEW TC V6 (NEW TC 16610 Insert)

Hey All,

Wanted to post my thoughts on the new TC V6 with the new TC16610 bezel insert.

First off the watch is amazingly close to Gen. If you are looking for the best 16610 Rep, stop reading and just order one.

For those who are interested in looking at the TC 16610 insert I have some pics here comparing it to the Gen bezel.

TC was prompt in his reponse to Emails and the watch arrived (about 60 days from payment) very well protected in bubble wrap, cardboard, and shipped USPS.

The Watch:

The build, fitment, weight are all so close to Gen that unless you have one right up next to the other, you can't tell the difference. A rolex dealer probably could tell the difference, but in reality, even upclose, no one will know the difference. Especially when you are wearing it and some one is 5 feet away.

On arrival the bracelet was STIFF but after some mineral oil and wearing/working with it for a week it feels smooth as Gen.

The only thing that makes it noticable as a Rep, in my opinion, is the finish (and the bezel insert).

There are some sharp(ish) edges on the bezel and clasp that differentiate it form the Gen, but after about a year of wear, I imagine that these differences would be hardly noticable.

The Bezel Insert:

This new insert is WAY WAY WAY closer to Gen than the previous 'Caddell' insert. TC acknowledged the flaws of the Caddell insert and has been working (very sucessfully) to improve upon this.

At first glance the new TC 16610 insert is EXCELLENT. Gone is the bubble shape which made the 'Caddell' insert look like a Rep, even at a glance. The way in which the new insert handles most light sources is VERY close to Gen. (see below)

The pearl itself (lume portion) looks very close to the Gen. however the metal surround is what shows the differences.

Also, the tringular 12 o'clock position on my insert shows a small amount of damage (not noticable to the naked eye, but noticable under 10x loupe or macro photography). I think this damage is limited to my example and not a systemic problem, but only future reviewers can answer this.

The black finish on the TC16610 bezel is very good. The number font and silver finish is also so close to Gen as not to be largely noticable the naked eye. Even when right up next to the Gen.

Enough chatter, take a look at the pics and judge for yourself.

NOTE: the bezel pictures are taken under a VERY HARSH single point source light to expose the differences. When seen under normal light (day light, source light from a bulb, etc.) the differences are FAR less pronounced and, in my opinion, only noticable under magnification.

looks good!

i still like the old rounded inserts. *shrug

as a TC owner i would say it would be virtually impossible for a regular (non watch nerd like us) person to pick it out as a rep.

the only tell thats noticeable imo is the second hand pinion hole.

that bracelet will eventually wear down to a nice smooth finish.

i give it a polish and re-brush it every once in a while bc im incredibly OCD.

congrats
