My 83 Tudor MN

Very Nice piece.

I love no date subs.

So what makes it an MN?  Excuse my ignorance on this matter.

I actually extracted this from one of Grahame Fowler's Milsubs....

but seriously. I think it is a MN because it is a no date, matte triangle dial (I am uncertain if this was sold dial configuration was sold to civilians). I have yet to see one in the wild...

I have to answer on this,

M.N = Marine Nationale (FR)

There's multiple models that are old M.N watches. Not only Tudor. Not only the 94010 like here. There is lots of older than 83' M.N snowflake also. Also not only wristwatches.

What's make a M.N is :

- M.N engraving with year on the back (on the back, at least for Tudor)

- Decommission paper or extract of the Marine registry with associated serial / number. The watch can come from 3 (? to check) cities. Like Toulon from example.

Now civilians have these books with all the s/n inside. Better to avoid case back swapping to have these records. It's a paid service most of the time unless you know the right people.

I also know these Tudor watches where decommissioned not so long ago (in the 90' ?) for about 300 or 400 Francs (approx 50 euros)

This is all I'm can remember at 8am. :) Cheers

Good to know is they are pretty "cheap" for MilSubs. Around 5k eur for a model in great conditions w/ papers 1 or 2 years ago.

Not worth the cost to make a replica IMHO... They probably will skyrocket in value the next years due to their Military origins.

Beautiful example. That dial sets it apart from anything else. The Tudor 76100 and 79090 both used a dial which had similar triangle indicies, but they all had date windows. Your beautiful example is obviously no date. I cannot find another reference which used this dial outside of the early 80's Tudor Subs made for the Marine National.

Someone is welcome to correct me, but I did lots and lots of searching on this. Any example you see with this dial is a MN Sub.

So cool! Congratulations on this beauty! Did he get any pictures with your whole box/setup?

Thank you! (I sincerely mean that)

I've been trying to find a reference to pair with dials like this, and I have always been unsuccessful. I had never seen it used in a civilian example... Until now.

Unfortunately I didn't send him the box. I sure regret it though!

Thank you for these links. I have never seen no date NON Flake TUdor Subs for sale. Thank you for sharing these links!!! :)

You're welcome

Here is my franken 94010 with a gen dial and eta 2783.

Right after I bought it, my wife stole it from me and won't give it back.
