Installing Auto Wind Mechanism on a Rolex 1520

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I need to replace an auto wind module on a 1520. It went on without a hitch and appears to be properly seated and it screwed down just fine with all the posts lined up. I took it off and put it on a few times very carefully and each time it seats in the same position with no problems.

When I wind the watch manually, the little red reversing (?) gears on the auto wind module spin. Does this mean it is seated correctly and interacting properly with the rest of the movement? When I spin the auto wind rotor the reversing gears spin but I cannot hear any clicks that would suggest that the mainspring is being wound so I am concerned.

Hope that makes sense to those of you who have done this. Does it sound like I'm OK so far?

Thanks,

Steve.
