Need some advice DW Daytonas--and some obligatory watchporn

My picture is leaving a lot to be desired, my apologies.  Ive been collecting vintage Rolex for about 10 years now and have always been enamored with vintage Daytonas.  The gens are totally out of my price range, and prob always will be.  That being said, Ive gone a little nuts with the DW Daytonas, buying anything that comes up fairly indiscriminately.  As such, I have two 6239s; one PN, one silver dial.  The PN has a gen crystal and crown but is in dire need of some work.  It keeps time, but the watch will not set the time, the chrono will no longer reset to zeros.  The silver dial is running great but the minutes subdial does not reset to zero.  Where can I get these serviced?  Ive read DWs can be difficult to work on bc of the modified movement.  Should I look at replacing the whole movement?  What would a A7750 service vs movement replacement cost?  If I'm looking at having to dump a ton of money into them, I may sell the PN as I dont like the look of it on my wrist as much as the silver dial.  I really want a sigma or PN 6263 and a V72 might be the only option that satisfies me there.  

 

The 16800 and 1600 are gen Rolex for those that care.  The 1600 is from 1970 and the 16800 is an '82.  Thanks guys!

First off where are you located? That will determine who may be recommended for service.

In every instance in my experience, an ETA 7750 is a more reliable movement, but the configuration for Daytonas, the 7753 is pretty expensive. The seconds @9 a7750's are not bad if properly serviced.

ETA 7753 is £700 from cousins. A7753 is £100.

But I haven't heard good things about new Chinese 775X movements.

thanks for the feedback. what am i looking at for a service?  are these difficult to service?

Properly serviced 775- movements are pretty good once serviced. Trouble is a proper service will cost twice the price of a new asian movement.

If anything is broken on the asian then unless a swiss part fits (many do) then getting asian parts is nigh on impossible.

 

They are a complicated and at times, frustrating movement to service. The Swiss 775- is a joy to work on

 

Unless you want to pile money into them, then swap out the movements for new asians or...Sell me the PN

That' absolutely correct, and the big reason most watchsmiths won't touch the A7750's. Bad parts, lack of replacement parts all add up to more time, frustration and oft times a movement that is fixed, but something else breaks and the watchsmith gets blamed for a shoddy job!

Just wondering, i didn't know the V72 fit a DW dial where it takes a a7750? As the sub dials at 6 sits lower than a V72.
