Are chronograph 7750 reliable?

Hi, I wanted to get myself a hublot with chronograph function but i've heard that the 7750 asian chronograph movement were less reliable and proned to breaking? Is there any truth in this?

Thanks

In the standard configuration (6-9-12) it's fine, as is the A7753 (3-6-9).

Any of the versions that move the running seconds to a different position (other than 9) are going to be problematic.

As with any Asian movement, getting them serviced helps a bunch as they normally come from the factory in a less than ideal state (dry and dirty).

Thanks for your reply!

I have also heard that you need to have needles in a certain position before changinf date for example?

The hands (hour) need to be between 3 and 9. I set my 7750's and especially my GMT's that have an ETA 2893-2, to around 6:30 , set the date and then the time.

As Tom Horn said, the 7750's are fine except for the ones that have the extra gear train added to change the seconds hand. Examples are the AP ROO chronos with sec@12 and the modern Rolex Daytonas with sec@6. These are known to have problems.
