autlnd Posted July 17, 2015 Report Posted July 17, 2015 I have a DW 6239 on the way in a M2M next door on RG. My question is, is it possible to age a bezel to look similar to this? Paint out of the bezel like the picture below.... I know that some light touching up with a dish-washing sponge can take some of the shine out but I do not want to go that far. And the one I have on the way...Very excited.
prdubis Posted July 17, 2015 Report Posted July 17, 2015 Use a needle to partially remove the paint, and then polish it. The best is to find the pic of a gen and use it as an example.
droptopman Posted July 17, 2015 Report Posted July 17, 2015 Good advice above. Synthetic steel wool like a scotch brite pad works also. Usually a couple rounds of "sanding" and polishing adds a nice vintage look. Sent from my droptop using telepathy
autlnd Posted July 18, 2015 Author Report Posted July 18, 2015 Thanks for the advice. The first picture above is a gen that I would shoot for. I will try both, thanks ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
dbane883 Posted July 18, 2015 Report Posted July 18, 2015 The bezel in the first pic was polished on a buffing wheel at some point.

freddy333 Posted July 20, 2015 Report Posted July 20, 2015 Most people want to replace the missing paint in their bezels. But if you really want to remove it, just use mineral spirits or a rag moistened (not dripping wet) with paint remover. Either way, as you wear the watch, the paint will wear away naturally all by itself, which always looks more natural than removing it artificially.
