Pre V
http://www.network54.com/Forum/353391/thread/1126898378/ A 5218-201 A LUMINOR PANERAI SAN MARCO A 5218-301A MARE NOSTRUM SAN MARCO They were handed out to donators to save the Piazza San Marco in Venice. They wanted to raise funds for the building of the dam in the lagune in front of Venice. If you donated $500 you got a Panerai with a quartz in it, with 'san marco' on the dial. Panerai supported this, you know being a brand involved with the sea etc. They are very common, a few thousands of them have been distributed. ........If they are so common, Why haven't I seen one yet? Anyone here knows or seen one? Imagine a 201a or Mare Nostrum in Quartz...
Pugwash
They were handed out to donators to save the Piazza San Marco in Venice. No they weren't. He was joking. Just to be clear; I have absolutely no knowledge of Panerai distributed watches with quartz movements as give-aways. To be honoust, to me, that would be absolutely unimagenable. It was a joke answer, very obvious IMO. I had a big laugh writing it anyway.
Watchmeister
You didn't see the bottom of the post. But at least one person admitted he would like a fake of it for "knocking around the garden".
