teddy boy Posted March 17, 2007 Report Share Posted March 17, 2007 (edited) I was looking at gen Mark XVs on ebay to help me pick the best rep. I noticed this one that has a non-white second hand. I certainly don't consider myself an expert being relatively new to reps and brand new to IWCs, but I thought that all Mark XVs had white second hands, even those with white dials. Moreover, when I look at this watch on ebay again, the hour hand is all wrong. It's blunted off and should be pointed. I reported it, it's definitely a fake. woody Posted March 17, 2007 Report Share Posted March 17, 2007 what is the gen site you are looking at teddy? those XV can have a flat hour hand, and the bracelet finish looks rather good, the gen site I looked at had non white second hand, if I were to still "guess" I'd say that is a gen. Thanks for your reply. http://www.prestigetime.com/item.php?item_id=2880 I see that the watch featured there is the silver dialed Spitfire. Hence the 'silver' colored seconds hand. I believe that for the 'standard' white dialed Mark XV, the seconds hand is made of rhodium (as are the rest of the hands). I have never seen a white-dialed watch with white hands. But I have seen black dialed watches with black hands (with luminous inserts). White on white IMHO = Anyhow, I will have to say that the non-Spitfire MK XV is a wonderful execution of zen-like harmony+simplicity and classic elegance.
