How Are All These Replicas Made?

I know there are made in places like China. But where do they get the originals to copy. Do they buy them and copy them or do it from pictures. Because these reps now a days are almost as good as the originals. Any info would be appericiated.

I guess a dealer/factory buy the real thing and then replicates it.

In some more recent cases, they do work from a genuine, but in most, they work of photographs which is why some dials are wrong and cases don't take genuine parts.

Most use blurry pictures taken from ebay. They start out with a hockey puck and a vice. Then file down solid steel to the desired shape. Silicone and epoxy to assemble the finished parts and a little mop and glo for the perfect shine.
