i'm sure all can see....davidsen's newest sandwich dials are green lume....GREEN! the simple fix is relume in pure c1.. the end result is a very correct color.. if any amount of c3 is added to the mix....it will stay green. pure c1 over the green turns a slightly off white and looks natural. i have pics but my camera is not here right now. i've done 3 of these so far with great results :D

Do you mean just placing C1 over the Davidsen original green lume, without removing the original green before placing C1?

that's correct. the old lume on the sandwich dials can not be removed without damaging the dial.

Is that a thing of the Davidsen's sandwich dials? Is it because the two layers are firmly tied together, or because the lume is firmly sticking on the inner layer?

I removed the lume from a 203 sandwich dial and I found it easy to separate the two layers (but they were loosely tied) and remove the lume.

Guest greeetz

hi guys,

interesting post.

Talking about lume I have an off-topic newbie-question to the more expierenced lume specialists : How do actually apply it (brush?) I ordered some at tritec. I would like to have a first go on a sandwich dial of an old panny which seems to be ok to start with.

Tips and your first lume-expierences are highly appreciated.

HAPPY EASTER

Greeetz, the 177 is a sandwich dial and Davidsen has no lume color issues with his sandwich dials. It' the sausage dials that are the problem like the 082, 005 and the 195. Those are the ones that have the green weinies.

my mistake... the sandwich lume can be removed no problem. i meant the sausage dials lume cannot be safely removed..

My 111H DS dial appears really yellowish...sort of like a vintage lume color....This is the incorrect lume color too? The hands are off white but the numbers/markers appear yellow to me. Both glow really well tho.

The gen pics posted by flav new gen shows the hands and markers about the same color.

@flav & rogerwine: thanks for making it clear!

@greetz: use a fine oiler (black handle). Do some search, there are several posts about the subject here.
