polexpete Posted April 13, 2007 Report Posted April 13, 2007 Posted pics of my Comex before but now i've installed the Ubi datewheel and a new bezel insert with gen luminous dot. Also now on a Nato strap. Thanks for looking. P.
Watchmeister Posted April 13, 2007 Report Posted April 13, 2007 Looks really good. That date wheel makes all the difference.

It isn't stock MBW. Comex dials with the correct wordings are really hard to find. I found this one on the Bay at this guys site. http://stores.ebay.com/NDTradingCorp His dials are now outrageously expensive. Thankfully i made an offer on this one and he accepted so didn't get stung too bad. Haven't ever seen another but maybe you can ask him. Also Micheal in Hong Kong www.classicwatchparts.com does them but i got one off of him but wasn't too accurate. P.

polexpete Posted April 13, 2007 Author Report Posted April 13, 2007 CAn I ask you who aged your dials and hands? They're really good. Many thanks. The dial came to me that way. I matched the hands myself, they're gen Tudor sub much more accurate than the original MBW hands. P.
rag9fx Posted April 13, 2007 Report Posted April 13, 2007 the CWP dials are not bad but kind of diasapointing... if i was going for a 1665 it would be a comex but the MBW dials always discouraged me and i won't even consider shelling out for a gen .(a great white would be cool but ... it hasn't been on the must have list for me) regardless ... your watch is looks amazing
rag9fx Posted April 13, 2007 Report Posted April 13, 2007 Good holy hell his dials are expensive ... is yours an original or a redial ?
eunomians Posted April 13, 2007 Report Posted April 13, 2007 Looks really good, nice work! I suggest that you soften the edges of the lugs. On a watch that old, the case edges wouldn't be so sharp. Here's a close-up pic of my OEM Sub. Notice the smooth edges due to patina.
Justasgood Posted April 13, 2007 Report Posted April 13, 2007 Verrrry nice and I agree on softening the edges a bit more. Well played
Guest avitt Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 Sweet Comex! My favorite part is the HEV. (If you find one of those crowns that you suggested, please pick one up for me too.... )
polexpete Posted April 16, 2007 Author Report Posted April 16, 2007 Hey guys, Thanks for yer useful comments and Eunomians thats a sweet 5513, wanna swap haha! P.
polexpete Posted April 16, 2007 Author Report Posted April 16, 2007 Good holy hell his dials are expensive ... is yours an original or a redial ? Yeah criminal huh? Mines a redial for sure a real one would be even more insanely expensive if you could ever find one. I made him a cheap offer and he agreed so its worth a try. P.
