Cape Cod Problem

It wonderful in removing scratches, but the problem the cloth dries fast even stored in the sealed package.

Is said on the pack that "a few drops of mineral spirit or veg oil" will revitalize. Does it mean the cooking oil will do the job?

Anyone tried as I don't want to mess up the function of it and subsequently make a mess on my watch surface.

BTW, what is mineral spirit?

Mineral Spirit is essentially a paint remover/solvent. Toxic stuff.

Cooking oil does mean vegetable oil.

I recommend that you keep your Cape Cod in a Ziplock bag as well as the foil bag that comes with the cloths. So, put one inside of the other. I've got a cloth that I've had around for a couple of years, it's still moist.

I did but it still dries up.

I think the chemical on the cloth simply dries up when you are doing the polishing in the open air, some of course some transferred to the skin/glove.

I cut small pieces off of the sheet and put the big piece back in to the bag then inside a ziplock.

squeeze the air out of it, an it will last you a long time.

I forgot to mention that I also squeeze all the air out of the ziplock bag before closing it up. Seems to work very well if u do this.

Mineral spirit is a mild solvent. You can also get "odorless" mineral spirits which are less toxic, but nevertheless still good to keep off your skin and avoid inhaling or (gasp) ingesting. Available in the paint section of Home Depot and other places.
