Hi all, as title suggests, my PAM 005 won't wind. I believe it to be a Swiss 6497, any advice on what the problem might be before I take it to a sympathetic watch mender is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance for any replies.

If it's just the stem and set screw that have come loose, then it's a really simple fix. Just a matter of retightening the set screw, which is easily accessible with the caseback removed.

One word of caution- Don't go too tight on the screw. You'll want to turn it just enough to meet resistance. Overtightening can be very bad...

Best of luck!

Ubi, I have had the same thing happen to my Rolex ExplorerII (I do not know when the movement is, but I am pretty sure it is not Swiss, no markings or identification). I opened it last night to see if I could find a loose screw, no go. I can set the time, the GMT hand and the date, but it will not wind. If I give it a shake(then wear it), the seconds hand will tick for about an hour and then stop. What could be the problem?

Anyone?

I am ready to send this watch to The Zigmeister, or anyone else willing to fix it, but would also like to try my hand at it.

I am very mechanically inclined and can follow instructions very well.

I will also not hold anyone responsible for giving me information that will lead to a broken watch ;) .

Thanks
