Antonio Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 Ok, I'm at a friend's son's wedding, talking to a guy. I notice his watch. It's a Casio. But not a modern one. One from the 80s. He had 2 back then, loved them, paid $49 each. Had one stolen, lost one to water damage. Has two more now. This one and an identical one. Ebay purchases. One for $500, one for $2000. Yup, two grand for a "classic" Casio calculator watch from the 80s.

Yup, two grand for a "classic" Casio calculator watch from the 80s. No accounting for the tastes of a collector. I wouldn't be caught dead with that on my wrist (classic or not) much less pay $2k for it. But to each their own as long as they're happy. Hahaha, what did he say when you said you wanted to take a pic of his watch? I guess he was happy at the interest in his prized piece but still...
Antonio Posted June 11, 2007 Author Report Posted June 11, 2007 As with anything, if someone asks if they can take a picture of something you love and collect, they're almost always thrilled with the idea. I actually was struck by the retro-coolness of the watch. Not something I'd buy, but he'd not buy a Breitling for the same reason. Everyone has their own taste, obviously! It was good to cause a fun conversation, something good for everyone.

dluddy Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 He really should upgrade. To the Binary Watch:
