  1. http://anonym.to?http://www.styleforum.net...ead.php?t=51715 Check post #6 for the links to pics. I think this is a thinly-veiled "Hey, I want to buy one of these suits but I want your opinion on it first before I waste my money. I'll pretend that I'm just doing it as an experiment." lol At least this person didn't link directly to the forum though.
  2. It was shirts actually. Anyway, it's a great site to learn about dressing properly; and about suits especially. Interestingly enough, they don't seem to care too much for the pricey, heavily-marked-up designer labels such as Armani, etc. that kenberg sells the reps of; preferring Brioni, Canali, etc. and obviously MTM/bespoke suits. *Edit: Thanks for the reminder to anonymize the links. It's been a while since I've posted and it slipped my mind.
  3. Add these to the list: http://anonym.to/?http://www.askandyaboutclothes.com/ http://anonym.to/?http://www.styleforum.net/
  4. http://www.askandyaboutclothes.com/forum/s...ight=paul+smith It's almost a year since this was posted but was cruising a clothing forum I sometimes read and came across this warning about fake shirts on eBay*. *Not that kenberg is the seller; just that they're using his pics to demonstrate the fakes.
  5. Congratulations. I'm currently doing my Ob/Gyn rotation so I get to see the miracle of birth many times/day. Definitely advise your wife to get the epidural when it's time for the delivery. It adds about an hour to the process but makes things ever so much easier...
  6. Although I use it, by no means does PeerGuardian make you completely safe*. I hope no one is using this program and under that impression. It's one more layer of security but there is no way that all the "dangerous IPs" are going to be listed in that program. *If you are downloading copyrighted material. As far as virii, etc. exercise some common sense and use a good antivirus such as Kaspersky or Nod32 and you should be good. I've been surfing the "darker side of the web" for 10+ years now (warez applications, music and porn) and have yet to get a virus/spyware. *knocks on wood*
  7. Well, I may be biased but I don't particularly see what's so "out there" about it. As I believe I've previously mentioned, I've been on many forums over the years and never come across this style before RWG and RWI earlier this year. Nothing was in my mind except the observation that I'd never seen this particular syntax(?) before. No one in particular. Various members rather. Again, given that I've never seen this used across previous forums I've visited (and continue to visit), yet it appears to be quite common on here I postulated that there is some form if copycatting happening. Nope, I never have. Huh? If you're referring to me, I don't believe I've ever trolled any forum I've ever been on. This post certainly wasn't made for the purposes of stirring up a reaction. Besides a couple of other "out there" posts I've made in Off Topic, if you view my other postings I'd like to think I was a somewhat contributing member as much as I could be given my newbie status to the replica watch world. In the last few months though, moving and doing 15-hour days during surgery rotations (+26 to 30 hours of on call every 4 days) hasn't made for much online playtime. Sleep has suddenly become a very, very valuable commodity and I only check in here every now and then to see what's going on. Not much time to post but venturing into Off Topic and seeing this post dragged up again "forced it out of me".
  8. They also said there were WMDs in Iraq.
  9. I'm no coorporate lawyer by any means nor do I have any formal training in business. I'm not so pompous to believe that my opinion is right when everyone else is wrong but I fail to see how MS is a monopoly given that the fact that other companies exist. Of course, I understand that they have a lot of bargaining power, etc. given their size and resources and they can use that to their advantage but I still don't consider them a monopoly. The fact that there is one internet company in the entire country where my parents live classifies said company as a monopoly in my book given that they're the only game in town (and their prices reflect that). MS, while the biggest player on the market by far, isn't what I'd consider a monopoly given that there are other players available. I don't think MS forces anyone to do anything e.g. Dell is now selling PCs with Linux installed on them. I believe that they would like to sell OSX-based machines but Apple has said no. Obviously monopolies are bad as they lead to stagnation through lack of competition leading to improvements and innovation but I simply don't buy into the "oooh, they won't let us play. They're a big bad monopoly" that a lot of companies throw at MS. If their 3rd party software, etc. is worth it, people will use it over included apps. Whoops, you're right. I forgot that was the case. Disclaimer: I do not own MS stock nor have any interest in, or association with, the company. I simply think that a lot of the EU anti-trust laws against MS (that resulted in Windows N or whatever) are a bunch of BS. Also, I have nothing against Apple. People can use whatever the hell the feel like.
  10. You can get fired or, at the very least, reprimanded by some companies for forwarding coorporate e-mail to a public e-mail provider like Yahoo. Not a big deal for many people (like I could do it no problem with my e-mail since I don't work for such a company) but, depending on where you work, it could be an issue (just like some places don't allow camera phones). PS Talking about proprietary with regards to MS, etc. is kind of a wash. Lots of companies do the same. Hell, look at the iPhone battery replacement. You can't even change that for yourself and have to send in your phone to get it done for a hefty fee. IMO, the ultimate example of propietaryness (yes, I made that word up) is that Apple software can only be installed on Apple hardware (OS X, I mean). It's possible to put it on "regular PC" components in some instances but lots of times you have to go with very specific hardware cause of lack of driver support (there are lots of websites out there with info about what might work for an OSX install). To me, this is one of Apple's strengths in that they only have to write for a limited hardware subset and don't have issues like with Vista where people are crying cause their GFX card doesn't have good support for drivers but, it's still very limiting. It's also ironic to me that when MS does the same and includes certain software in their OSes (that they are sure will work with their code, etc.) they get hit with fines and anti-trust suits for being a monopoly and "shutting out the competition". PPS Regarding MS not allowing Exchange on 3rd-party phones, I remember reading a whole back that Exchange support would be included on the iPhone some time in the future. Of course, until that happens, it's just another rumour. The source was more credible than usual though and it's one I tend to believe. Like I said, I see no reason why Apple can not release a lot of the missing features via a software update e.g. people complaining about the keyboard only working for one app in landscape mode (they could make it work all the time for all apps).
  11. One thing I don't like about Edge, and this is not specific to the iPhone, is that when you're using it to browse the web you cannot receive incoming calls (I think they'll go to voicemail). This is not an issue when using wireless (which is also much faster).
  12. It is not possible for Gmail to "push just fine" given that it's not push e-mail. You may have some kind of timed auto check set up which kind of accomplishes the same thing e.g. I have Outlook set to check my school account every 15 minutes. However, this is not the same as saying I have push e-mail (even if I set it to check every minute). What you have amounts to auto pull rather than push.
  13. It stems from the fact that it only does Yahoo push and for other people who have exchange servers that push their corporate e-mail to them, it won't work with that. I see no reason why lots of the missing features e.g. proper push, chat, etc. won't be added as an update. Of course, things like 3G will need updated hardware; be it a European/global release or iPhone 2. I will not be getting one but my sis, who is a Mac head, is interested. Since I'm the "techie" in the family (and our friends) my advice to her has been to wait though and not be a beta tester for Apple. IMO, this phone is missing some stuff and has some bugs to be worked out still. I don't own one (though I've used one for about an hour to play with) but reading too many disturbing things on some forums e.g. Howardforums, from users. I am impressed that I'm not reading that many bugs though; especially for a 1st gen device that is the company's first foray into the mobile market.
  14. I deal with a lot of thinking every day in my studies. Sometimes I like to sit back and watch something totally frivolous just for pure entertainment value. I like cartoons for example. Can't stand "reality TV" though.
  15. It's not bad. I watch it just like I watched that weird HBO series Carnivale cause I want to know what will happen next. But as far as the show goes, I find myself annoyed with it a lot. They have to do a lot of plot twists and side plots going in order to keep such a simple premise alive because otherwise it would all be over in like 10 episodes. There's too much "artificial suspense" and close calls for my liking. Some is good but too much is well...too much. Something like Heroes or Lost is preferrable to me.
  16. Of course I know it's make believe and certain truths have to be overlooked in order for the show to progress. Usually I can live with it and say "it's just a movie" but every now and then I come across a scene where I just have to say "COME ON!!" For example, I've never seen the show Prison Break although many of my friends rave over it. I was a bum this weekend and watched the entire first season. There's a lot of suspension of reality in this show but, again, I can live with it for the most part. But just now I saw a scene where a guy's hand gets cut off and he finds someone to sew it back on and then almost immediately after, he's using it like nothing was wrong.
  17. I agree. But not to some people; which is why rep prices will continue to climb to this level and higher. As has been discussed numerous times, the dealers will set the price at what the market will bear. My pocket will cling to my dollars at that price though.
  18. Yes he did, but apparently you did not read his comments on the HBB specifically in a recent thread.
  19. I think that kind of sums up all I said before in this thread in a nice, neat little sentence. To me, it doesn't matter the cost of the gen because, due to the faults and shortcomings of the reps, there's still an absolute price point I think they're worth. One rep isn't worth $500 (because it's based on a $10k watch) to me compared with another only being $150 (based on a $2k) when that $500 rep still might have missing screws, stripped crown, no oil and lots of dirt, etc. just like the cheaper one.
  20. Not necessarily on this site. There are others where you don't need to be a member to see By-Tor's pics because his reviews are also posted there. RWI for example. However, it does indicate that said individual is a member of one of these rep forums (as was said before).
  21. http://www.metro.co.uk/weird/article.html?...mp;in_page_id=2 It's a little weird to see someone missing the entire lower half of their body but it's so cool what technology can accomplish.
  22. I believe it's Vash-er-on Con-stan-tin (like tin can) since it's French. There's a page with watch pronunciations. Let me see if I can find it. http://www.chronometrie.com/watchsounds/watchsoundspage.htm
  23. Looking forward to your review. This (also in white) and/or the BCE is going to be my next watch. I think it's beautiful. My sister, who is my fashion critique, gave it 2 thumbs up and so far she doesn't really like many of the watches I show to her. However, I tend to ignore her where watches are concerned although I value her advice regarding clothing.
  24. That might explain why the duty free stores at the Puerto Rico airport didn't carry Omega. I was wondering how come they didn't have such a "common brand".
