Rolex pocket watch

Hi All

I don't know if anybody else here is interested in pocket watches

but I just purchased this beauty.

It was made in 1919 by Rolex and has a 17 jewel hand wind movement

a solid gold case and a glass vision panel so you can see the time

without opening the case (Called a half hunter)

What is also good is that it was hallmarked in Birmigham UK in 1919

so there no mistake about the date of manufacture.

Now I just need a good solid gold albert chain, Anyone?????

this one looks really great...lately i've been searching all over e-bay for pocket watches...there can be found some great examples...with some great looking movements for cheap $$$...but lately I ve been buying some expensive reps...so not enough $$$ for everything...

I for ex have already the gold chain from tiffany & co with my name engraved on a little plate...now what i miss is something like this rolex...

I have never seen a solid gold case, all the ones I have worked on were gold filled.

I would be interested to see the hallmarks on the case.

Normally the case and movements were not made or sold by the same company. There was a whole industry that made cases, and another that made movements. The job of the jeweller was to marry the two up, depending on the customer request.

Lovely example. Unusual, too, since the dial is marked "Rolex". Most examples from prior to 1920 were marked 'Marconi'.
