Anyone from Lecce

Recommended Posts

I may be gong to Lecce in a few weeks on a cheap flight to visit a friend who is working there. Anyone know anything about this place? I think I will be flying to Brindisi airport.

My friend tells me that everyone speaks Italian, but no English, so I'm already in trouble, as I don't speak Italian!

I can't tell you anything specific about Lecce, but I certainly wouldn't sweat the language problem unless you're planning on giving long speeches on arcane subjects - like replica watches, for instance!

Everybody more or less has a few words of English these days, and life is not complicated to the point that you won't be able to make your needs, ideas, etc., known.

In the meantime, why not read up a bit on where you're going via Frommer's, TripAdvisor, Lonely Planet and the tons of other stuff on the Net?

I'll do that, haven't had much time to do any research yet.

My friend tells me they don't understand any English where she's staying, so I told her she's stuck with me and will have to be my translator :thumbsupsmileyanim:

That is, until she has to go to work :(

She says all she does is go tanning on the beach as there is nothing to do and it's boring... she wants to go home!

Probably is boring: Lecce is not Rome...

On the other hand, you'll have the time to do a little tanning on the beach, savor an espresso and some grappa! :D with delicious little sandwiches and/or sweets while watching the world go by on the terrace of a neighborhood caf

Thanks for the help. I think I may be reliant on my friend who has been there for around a month now perfecting her Italian. I'd like to see that architecture, and hopefully there may be some ancient ruins... and hopefully the nightlife and parties are good too :thumbsupsmileyanim: Apparently it is very hot there, while it's been raining here today.

Yes, the trulli houses are something you might want to check out. I bel;ieve the main town where they're located is alberobello. Lecce also has some beautiful baroque architecture and a serie b soccer team. I nothing else, you can always count on the the old standbys - the beach and partying!

I believe thats the only avatar of Cannavaro on the internet with his shirt on.;)

I take it you know yyzmia?

I'll have to dig up my mini-ball to go and practise on the beach. I'm not one for laying around in the sun getting a tan. I get too bored and restless that way. And I'm not taking my shirt off. It's been 9 months since I picked up this foot injury, and have played no football or done much exercise in the intervening period :(

At this rate I'll start looking like a bloated Maradona!

Where are the parties over there? Are they all into techno-house even in Lecce ? ;) I don't mind it though. I can dance to most music :thumbsupsmileyanim:
