Guest carlsbadrolex Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 I have a genuine Tag Monaco offered to me at $800. It is the non-chronograph varient, but comes with all boxes, manuals and stamped but unassigned warranty card. Watch is less than 6 months old and is immaculate. I see the watch being sold new for around $1500, is $800 a good deal? Is the watch a decent watch? I havent seen any reviews on the non-chronograph watch, and those reviews werent so hot. Any comments appreciated.
docblackrock Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 Assume we're talking THIS model then? I suppose $800 is a good price, although this modern 'homage' has depreciated faster than a speeding bullet - most Heuer purists (me included ) consider it a 'cuckoo', something that inhabits a Monaco type case but isn't actually one. Let's face it, the McQueen chrono IS the Monaco, although it will have a new stablemate at Basel 2008 when finally the production model V4 Monaco is launched. But hey if you like it, buy it, probably going to give you more pleasure than a HBB paperweight/doorstop
gargoil Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 Wouldn't worry about the unsigned warranty card, I have two gens which have unsigne dwarranty cards. Agree with what docblack said above. If I had $800 to spend on a gen/reps I'd prob go for that.
Guest carlsbadrolex Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 Talked him down to $650 and will pick it up this afternoon. Meeting at Ben Bridge of course to make sure its not an Andrew Special!
Febus Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 Genuine Monaco or a 'super-rep'? Monaco every time.
chrgod Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 Great buy for 650 USD.. I guess you can always make a profit by selling it on eBay, if you dont like it.
TmeShare Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 I have the Tag Heuer Monaco Automatic Chronograph (Black Dial) and have never regretted buy that watch. I get compliments whenever I wear it and unlike other real watches I have bought and regretted this is not the case with the Monaco. Keep in mind the non-chronograph Monaco has a smaller case than the chronograph 38-39mm versus 40-41mm. TimeShare
section8 Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 Talked him down to $650 and will pick it up this afternoon. Meeting at Ben Bridge of course to make sure its not an Andrew Special! @ 650 I would jump on it provided the watch is legit. Post pics if you get it!
Victoria Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 Talked him down to $650 Oh well done! I was just about to post a reply suggesting you offer $700 AT LEAST, when I read down to the other posts. Mind you, if it had been me, I would've offered $600. and will pick it up this afternoon. Meeting at Ben Bridge of course to make sure its not an Andrew Special! Take your laptop and digicam. Take a snap, and post it here in case you have any doubts. I'm sure the Tag specialists up top will let you know if it's worth it/gen, IN CASE you don't. Like Scoobs said, WTG. Santos pays off immediately!
