perry563 Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 I also bought a Clark T39 Superdome to go with it. Now I read that perhaps this is the wrong crystal for my GW. Would it be that objectionable/incorrect to install a superdome on a Great White? I already have a MBW 1680 with a flat top Clark crystal....I wanted the superdome on the GW. What do you rolex experts think????

What do you rolex experts think???? Superdomes were only used on red dialed SDs. However, you can pretend your SD was a red dial with a RSC dial change to white. "This old thing? Yes, it used to have ugly red writing on it, but when Rolex serviced it last they put a pretty white dial on it. Lovely, isn't it."
perry563 Posted September 6, 2007 Author Report Posted September 6, 2007 So the crystal originally on the GW was the same as the 1680 but without the date mag? Perry.
cib0rgman Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 I don't think that a dial change from Red to white would be appropriate. There was a transitional time, the MBW serial 5.7mil dates around it - where there actually were GW's with superdomes and - the DR caseback. Very rare and sought after in the gen... So it's not wrong. Lesson one - there is almost nothing wrong with vintage Rolex. Well Said my friend. does the MBW has the correct case back, I red the other on a thread that the case back engraving is incorrect for MBW 1665 Regards
Pugwash Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 Well Said my friend. does the MBW has the correct case back, I red the other on a thread that the case back engraving is incorrect for MBW 1665 I think you missed his point. There is no wrong.
