vaccum Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 Once again I decided to post this pictorial because of the lots of emails I receive everyday asking wich is the best movement....here we go............... I took a Davidsen real "swiss" H series and a New asian swanneck H series Dial side "swiss" vs. New asian Look at the decoration and the shock protection system used. The swiss has the Novodiac system (cheaper version) The asian has the more expensive Incabloc. Both made by the same company. Bridges side "swiss" vs. New asian Both fonts are thinner and better finish overall. "swan neck" regulator assy "swiss" vs. New asian Look at the balance wheel asian is correct also the shock protection is correct. "swiss" ETA stamp NONE on the New asian "swss" is 18000 bph wrong New asian 21600bph correct like gen Here is some info about the shock protection systems My vote goes to the New asian swanneck movement......you decide wich one you want.
Watchmeister Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 Very nice review. Really makes you think twice about buying the Swiss. Have the Asian been out long enough to know whether the quality control is good? Does anyone sell them separately?

Watchmeister Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 Movement for movement or do you have something else in mind?
RWG Technical Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 Great informative well researched post, thanks for taking the time to do this comparison up. RG
FxrAndy Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 Buy neither have a long enough swans neck adjusting screw! Go asian i say
sssurfer Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 The only correct swan neck is the Asian one! Here is the real thing from the OP website: http://www.panerai.com/img/1/prodotti/dett...0_vista_3_g.jpg Sad to notice that DSN's 6497 is the 'Swiss' type. I formerly thought it was almost perfect. Thanks, Vaccum! Excellent comparison & review! You made me realize subtle differences that I was not aware of before reading this thread of yours.
fishgodeep Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 Great post Vac...thanks, I'm taken by the Asian model...who would you rate as a good source ? BR FGD

Guest Sql_pl Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 OK so how can one get this new asian movement?
peepshow Posted December 6, 2008 Report Posted December 6, 2008 I'd start with vac and then move to the "parts friendly" dealers like DSN or Angus...
goin6633 Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 I already get both of them from my dealer , check it ~~ Asian 6497 swiss 6497 And I know there're another asian 6497 like this ~~~~~ This one is with my Pam249 , and it has ETA stamp & 6497-1 on it First two are the options of 111 H from my dealer , and the last on only find with 249 .
