Customs Trouble

Recommended Posts

Hello

I don't post much, but I do read a lot. Got a one watch from Andrew (great guy) held up by customs. I provided them an invoice for polishing. Now they are asking me for proof of ownership and proof of export. What do you guys send them if your watch gets held up? I understand that some members got taxed by customs for their watches. They probably have to have some ground for the tax. Do you provide them a fake receipt, paypal records, ... Or do they come up with the taxing fee themselves? I'm from EU - Slovenia

I have used the search button, only didn't find the answers. Sorry if this has already been posted.

Thanks

You may want to inquire with Andrew and see what he reccomends. I would imagine he has dealt with the issue before. Good luck.

you need some paper that says you sent something somewhere (from the post office). happned to me once, I just took a slip from a package I send somewhere and told them it was the watch!

I also faked a paypal reciept which stated I only paid 10$ or so for the "repair", if you want to know how to do that, let me know! or provide me with the details and i'll do it for you

No I did not have to pay additional shipping 30 US for the second package. Well I did - for EMS. Andrew then told that no EMS was possible for my country - strange. He resent the watch, after the first package has been delayed more than 2 months at customs. Of course we didn't know that the customs was delaying the watch. He resent the watch just one day before I got the notice from customs for the first shippment (only god knows what took them so long). The second time the customs replied only after 10 days with the same notice. Looks like I'm marked know. Strangley my Pam 111h from silix got through in the mean time.

What do you send them when they ask for the receipt (not the proof of ownership or export)? Probably not a fake receipt for the real thing?

No chance... if you did that you'll get hit with tax on the value of the real thing - and probably pay more than you did for the rep in the first place!

If you want to pass it off as genuine, try refurbished used watch bought at auction and put say $500. You could get away with that but still pay hefty tax I think.

Just need to tell everyone that I got my watch. What I did was this: Andrew sent me a polishing receipt (that I sent for the first watch and I got asked for the proof of ownership and export) and I modified it to be a receipt for the watch with the exact amount I paid to Andrew. Funny thing is that they didn't even reply. The postman showed at my door in the next two days with the package. But I did have to pay my local tax (20%) and customs handling fees - 10US. Bottom line - they just want to see some piece of paper with some figure on it so they can tax you.

Would post some pics but my camera is down.

Must mention Andrew and his patience :D

happy watchwearer
