It appears that the 2688 pre-dates the 2671- 17 jewels vs 25, both are 7-3/4 lignes, 21,600 bph vs 28,800 for the 2671.

Tudor puts the smaller movement in mid-size and ladies watches. Like the Tudor Mini-Sub has the 2671 movt (or something similar). Hard to say why the DJ would have a 2688, but I would think a 2836 would fit. Rep cases are typically a little bigger than gens, a 2836 fit in both of my 160xx Frankens (gen cases) w/ the addition of a spacer, so there was plenty of room.

I have an older CN sub w/ a 2836-1 movt- backing up ziggy's assertion that all of these reps have surplus movements in them. A 2836-1 pre-dates the 2836-2, putting it around the late 70's. They may just build these reps w/ whatever is available at the time.
