TJGladeRaider
Agreed. It's when someone tries to pass off a rep as the real thing, in order to make money, that there is a problem. Truly -- fookwits like that need to be in jail where they can experience a little buggery first hand. Bill
TJGladeRaider
I really didnt mean to call the dude, out, I was just kinda making converstion, I was about to direct him here, but he got all defensive so I changed the topic Oh, I see - you really didn't want to know where his POS came from so you could buy one for yourself - in truth, you were going to steer him to where he could get a better one. That makes perfect sense, but the only problem I have is, why didn't you tell us that to begin with? Why try to sell us on the [censored] story first? In other words Dude, you wanted to be a bully and slap this poor kid around who never did anything to you, force him to admit that he was full of [censored], acknowledge his efforts to lie, and admit the truth . . . To have some total stranger you never did anything to put you in that position really sucks doesn't it? Bill
HighDef
Ah.............Hellooo..............We are all rep collectors, some are just not as fortunate as us in finding this great site, all around I think it's pretty lame calling someone else out for wearing a rep unless he is trying to sell it at an inflated price. Ken I agree with Ken,,,,,unless the guy is an [censored] and really trying hard to pass it as a gen to me,, I will not hesitate to call him out. If he is trying to pass it as a gen to his friends and you just happen to be there,,,let it be, let him enjoy the moment.

PLUS, its not such a big deal, I didnt really call his watch a POS, I intended to direct him to better reps was truly my intent.....

As I was saying, a little watch knowledge can be a socially dangerous thing. Just bring up watches at the next party and see the room clear. cwai02
I would just ignore him. What's the point to call him out anyway.
Category 5
People "assume" my sub reps are real all the time. in fact, nobody has ever taken two looks to see otherwise. Part is how you wear it, the rest is just ignorance to the tells. That said, I get far more "Rolex" haters telling me I overpaid for an inferior watch and should have bought a Chronoswiss or something than I do admirers. In the high end watch world it is amazing how much detest there is out there for Rolex. I took a Alaskan cruise last two weeks on a Regent ship (high class, and most employees are from france, Romania, Austria, etc.) full of watch lovers (not just the guests but the crew - I saw so many awesome pieces!). The ship was full of Pateks, Chronoswiss, Audmars, Vacheron, and of course (beginners designer) more Tags than you could shake a stick at. there were plenty of Rollies, but the air seemed to hold them in very low regard. The casino manager commented "Nice watch...how many seconds a day does it lose?" with a smirk. I didn't tell him it was a $250 rep.
