  1. I got this one from Josh about a year ago...the same one trusty has which has too big of a white border around the emblem. Just a heads up, I don't think the bracelet is SS on that one. It feels a lot like the cheap metal used in the canal street reps (Pot metal). AT least it doesn't have near the weight of a good SS bracelet. The movement in these is just like the real deal, and the split seconds quartz chrono is actually a neat/fun movement. For the price it makes a fantastic beater and has been with me through painting and pressure cleaning my house, as well as many other tasks including crawling through the attic, etc.
  2. That's the starp I'm after...only lighter. Where'd you find that one? It looks like fuzzy suede.
  3. My...it's been a while since I've been around only to po in and find this. From the pics my-oh-my they did a nice job on this one! It was my favorite watch for so long I had to get the gen. Had this been around I certainly would've gone the route of the rep! It is currently my "Hockey" watch. I wear it to the games, and it is a fine piece. FWIW the TAGs often have misaligned datewheels. in fact when I got my gen they were all misaligned, and all by the same amount on the same dates. Some dates sit center, others ride high. There is no AR on mine (date only) and it doesn't need it. the flat crystal doesn't reflect much at all. Most watches with bad reflections have a dome crystal. the Aqua looks AR even though it isn't.
  4. At least they could have tried one of the umpteen dealers with decent reps. That sucker is atright from Canal street $20 special.
  5. Sandwich fpr me too. It makes the watch IMO. For me the Ti felt way too light. Without a steel band the rest of the watch is where the weight is, and I just couldn't handle how light the 177 is. the 111 is a pretty sought after watch, and somewhat hard to come by in the AD.
  6. Been a subscriber for a while. Great photos. It's one of my favorite watch publications, and while the subscription is not cheap it's well worth it.
  7. I wrap my claps with LCD PDA screen protector material. It's clear. you can hardly tell it's there, and you just change it every few months. no more clasp scratches ever again. You can also use clear packing tape, although it is thinner.
  8. I just bought two BOB Buffalo Suede straps. they were about $45 each and I am blown away by how nice the quality is. i love 'em. You can't go wrong with Bob for that kind of money.
  9. 111 on my new suede Bob enjoying the beautiful weather!!!!
  10. Gen Link Quartz Chrono. Arrow hand at center is chrono minutes. the plain center seconds hand is chrono seconds. Subdial at 2 is 1/10 seconds, subdial at 6 is watch seconds, and subdial at 10 is chrono hours. All subdials are correct as is the date font and position.
  11. Show us pictures with the new datewheel! I had my worries about whether the window would fit it correctly, but I am glad to hear they were unfounded. I'd love to see your result!
  12. I got these couple of BOB straps at a pretty decent price. I bid because I was wanting suede straps and these two fit the bill. it just seemed easy. Since I am new to PAMs I was wondering if I can just get any PreV buckle in 24mm and fit it easily to these. It comes with the new style buckles with springbar. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...p;rd=1&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...p;rd=1&rd=1 Also, i got these tubes and screws for a quick fix when i get the straps. I just want to make sure nobody has any heads up about these WRT to stripping my lugs or scratching the lugs with the tubes. They seem okay, but since they are supposedly 316L I don't know what would strip first...the screws or the lugs. Forgive me for being paranoid, but the thought of leaving the house without my PAM scares me right now! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...p;rd=1&rd=1 Love those straps! I just want to get PreV buckles for them...polished Stainless. Where is my best bet? Ebay again?
  13. Last time I was there the Indian guys a few blocks East of Braodway were the ones to see for the ETA based reps. Some of them want big money, others are on par with the dealers here. If you tell them you know what you're looking at they'll usually come around. It also helps to show them a decent rep so they know what you're after. The regular Asian subs can be had for $20-$25 if you go to the right place. They make great dissection watches for learning.
  14. Awesome relume job! I just got a 11i gen too, partly because of jealousy from your post showing your new gen. Now I am thinking of adding a rep or two. Maybe they'll need some of your tlc to sit nicely next to my gen!
  15. You are comparing a 7750 (LARGE) watch and a watch with a steel bracelet to a PAM with leather. the weight should be just right, but I can attest that my 111 feels lighter than my PO or TAG Chronos. Great job on the strap. Did you soak it in straight bleach? How long?
  16. But there's no love in the Gen forum like there is here. I decided to forego the rep on this one and go straight for the Gen (wifey made it my anniversary present!!!). Now I am wanting a 177...and wouldn't a 233 be just the best!? Anyway, this is a quick and dirty shot, but I had to introduce it to some people i thought would care!
  17. I'm with you on that. With the way the decent reps have been prioced lately I've got more money going into the Gen pot and less on reps. I am trying to hold myself to one rep every 3-4 months, whereas I used to use no discretion. If I liked it I bought it. there are quite a few reps I have been eyeing, including the Chopard, but I just can't justify the higher price tags, especially where quality is concerned. On that note, the last rep i bought was the TAG Carrera chrono, and I don't regret it one bit. It's one of the few spectacular reps that feels so much like a gen my brain almost accepts that as truth. It was a great buy at $250 shipped. What they are selling for now is too much. The dealers can whine all day long about how risky their job is, how hard it is to make a good rep, or how they have to eat the cost of lost watches. the bottom line is these guys make plenty, they chose their livlihood, and if they aren't careful they could price themselves out of the market. If they are trying to appeal more to the unsuspecting google buyer now, why not go all the way and call themselves bluefakes?
  18. I thought The Zigmeister said that a 2892 wouldn't even fit in this watch. Unless they are making a different case version I wouldn't be surprised to find this out as another ruse. I'd love to be wrong though.
  19. Great watch! Lucky you have a big enough wrist to pull it off. Do I see a 47mm PAM in your future? There's certainly a 44mm in mine. Good to hear Josh is still as reliable as I have experienced in the past. There are a lot of good dealers here, and you have stumbled on only one thus far. I think I have almost ordered at least one watch from every dealer with a presence here...nothing bad to say about any experience to date. Nice shots BTW!
  20. Shouldn't it be advertised as Asian 2892...or better yet Asian 28,800bph similar to 2892. What about the movement is ETA? If a Fiero is a clone of a Ferrari then that is a clone of a 2892. I've never met anyone who thinks that though.
  21. SO far mine's working for just over a year. It was $50 for a 4 watch winder. My only complaint is that if left running it keeps the watches TOO wound. It goes for 30 minutes and rests an hour, turning bidirectionally when on. I have connected it to an automatic outlet timer (like for when you go on vacation) and have it set to stay on 4 hours in the day and 4 hours at night. I set it so that my 7750's just keep turning (since they are unidirectional) even though my Rolex and Omega get wound twice as much. I'd like to get a better one and have been waiting for this one to die but it keeps going. I've had it apart and it's a pretty simple device. If it breaks it won't be hard to fix.
  22. THanks Wheaton. Nice pics you took. I'm surprised they let you snap them. I tried to snap a shot of a Chopard Pro1 when I was in vegas and they tried to sick security on me. They wanted to take my camera into custody!
  23. Congrats Flav. I too have a gen 11 on the way, only mine will be a J. THe dealer offered it to us at the current price instead of the 10% increase, and with an extra strap and additional 2 years of warranty so how could I resist. Of course, jealousy may have had a bit to do with it. Your pics are kinda like the activity books where they challenge you to find the differences between two pictures. You did a great job with your mods. What do you mean about the beat of the gen being faster? Are they not both 17,600 bph?
  24. With a 7750 the watch is only winding if the winder is turning clockwise.
  25. Tell the cab driver canal and Broadway. Dress casual or the dealers get too spooked. When you get ther everything will fall into place. When you see Breitlings by the hundreds on racks tell them Rolex, Cartier, TAG, whatever and if you don't look to threatening they'll magically appear. Also, if they ask for $50, offer them $25 and settle on $30. Sometimers they'll ask the most rediculous prices, and as you walk away they chase you down going "Okay $20!" and cursing at you in Chinese.
