  1. Thanks Joshua. That is a pretty weird, and interesting strap he has on that one!
  2. He was fantastic live. One of the best you'll see. His mix was excellent as well. Oddly enough, Sheryl Crow followed him up and her mix was terrible. I guess that's the difference between yound engineers right out of school, and long time rock sound guys with blown out ears! Oh yeah...now that I think about it he wasn't wearing a steel strap. I don't know why I got that in my head.
  3. Saw John Mayer in concert last night. He wasn't shy about showing off a large PAM with a silver bracelet. I have seen him wearing an IWC in a DVD video I rented (forgot the model) a while back. Anyone know what PAM it is that he wears?
  4. That's one ugly rep! No gen that I've ever seen looks like that.
  5. No AR on the gen. Gen 7750 chronos have their share of problems and reset accuracy issues. It is a cheaper chrono movement than the Zenith, and it lacks the refinement. These reps are fantatsic and I must have one!
  6. ETA offers different versions of their movements. THey offer a basic version (as we are used to seeing), a decorated movement, and a COSC version. I think you can purchase an already COSC certified movement from ETA. I think is what companies like TAG Heuer do for their chronometer watches. ...although, I doubt these reps for $150 dollars have COSC certification.
  7. The brushes work well, but don't last long. Ofrei sells them, and the refills. Creful of the fiberglass brstles. Theyl stick right in your skin, and can case splinters too. Scotchbrite pads actually work well too. They give a more coarse finish. I like to start wit scotchbrite for hte base finish, go over that with the brush, and then lightly rub a cape cod over it to finish it off.
  8. Just tell the Cab driver "canal and broadway". I found plenty of decent reps on canal...but the dealers that had them thought they were royalty or something. A decent ETA PAM rep 9recessed canon pin of course) for $350 (marina militaire or something). ETA Sub reps for $200...but nothing special, just your basic CN eta sub. Funny, they guys with the good reps acted like they were above the whole market. "how much for this one?" - "Too much for you my friend. For you a cheap watch. These wathes are identical to real. You want to pay $400?" The Asians had lower end watches. Most of hte guys with the better reps were Indian. I did find an excellet Vacheron rose gold rep, with decorated movement, good plating and a fantastic dial. It is the same one Josh sells for like $130 or so. I managed to get it for $55, but the Asian lady I got it from was cursing me as I walked away. She said she couldn't go lower than $85. I guess her cost was a lot lower! Canal street is still a lot of fun....even if you realize that most of what you take away from there is complete garbage.
  9. No...but you can make one with the red zip tie string from a pack of spearmint gum . Then nobody will ever believe you have a rep!
  10. As you probably know, brushed clasps (like on the seamasters) are VERY prone to scratches...long before the rest of the watch. I took some Fellowes WriteRight PDA screen protectors, and cut some pieces to fit over my clasps. You can't even tell they are there...and no more scratches. In a few months if they start to peel, cut some new ones. They don't leave any residue either.
  11. I hate to say it, but that 7750 based PO Chrono has NONE of the presence of the real deal. It looks like a cheesy fantasy watch. I'd almost prefer a re-geared version like the Daytonas just to get it to look right. How many people really use the chronos on their reps anyway?
  12. Ruby, PLease hsow us closeups of the subdials too. Why does it look like a pie pan (correct for gen) on the white one, but flat stepped subdials on he black? Are they not the same? Does the white in fact have the correct "pie pan" shaped subdials?
  13. I have dealth with EL, Andrew, PT, Neil, and Joshua and all have answered my e-mails or PMs within hours. I just don't get this! these people have got to be trying to stir things up on purpose. Any one of the trusted dealers here is known to replace watches without question (even soemtimes for buyer ignorance), and even send new watches for items siezed by customs. Sellers like TTK are known to lay low on hte e-mail comms...but EVERYONE who has ever ordered from him has gotten their watch and been happy. The first watch I ordered from EL had me worried, but as far as I was concerned if I received nothing it would have been a gamble on my end, and I would have taken the loss. You've got to be crazy to alert the security department because you were unhappy, or didn't receive you illegal goods! Another thing I'm noticing...most of these a-holes aren't names we see every day in the forum. I don't know how much business it'll cost the dealers, but I'm all for a 100post minimum before you can pay with paypal. Heck, it'd save some poeple from making a wrong purchase or two on impulse anyway. I don;t have Washington Mutual, can't stand Western Union, and think Moneybookers is a joke for people in the US. Paypal is the easiest (and really only) way for me to purchase my reps, and a few strange bastards are going to ruin it for me and the others here. EXPOSE THEM IN FULL! Let whatever wrath that may befall them be!
  14. I would be pretty upset with that date myself. Also, it no longer looks like the subdials are detented in your watch. It does on Ruby's pictures of the white one though. I was assuming they were the same, but now it looks not. Am I correct?
  15. Yeah...I thought Ruby was the only one sourcing this version. I'd hate to get the misaligned date, and funky subdials.
  16. Is there a final price for this yet? Maybe someone is willing to volunteer to accept money through paypal, and forward it in a ginat payment to Ruby...then those in the US can split the WU fees up across all of us. ???
  17. Add another one for me...can't decide black or white yet.
  18. Seconds would be at 3 if it were quartz, or at 6 (with a 6, 9 , 12 config).
  19. Wow! The subdials are not only not shiny, they look properly detented like those on the Gen. With the possible exception of the date font, this looks like an almost 99% accurate rep (at least in pics)! This one sits nicely next to the latest TAG Link that's going around. We're starting to see some near perfect reps these days. I am praying for a TAG Carrera 40th Anniversary rep based on the 7750 soon. This is a good candidate for my next rep though.
  20. Should be the same as the one in the review, except with a phony signature and a green seconds hand.
  21. The stores in NYC and Vegas are like amusement parks. You can't believe how big they are, and how many watches they have on display. Not a chance on the discount. You can get the standard 10% or so, but nothing like you'd get from worldofwatches.com or ashford.com . To be honest, I still wonder how Tourneau can stay in business with online retailers discounting so much these days.
  22. For those of you in the US, you can get a pack of 12 cloths straight from the company for $20 (www.capecodpolish.com). That's way cheaper than ebay dealers get for them in the US. I love these things, and they are great and all...but why in the heck would they make a cloth saturated with poisonous (if ingested) petroleum distalliates smell like freakin' candy? Keep these things away from your pets or small children...they will eat them!
  23. Musician and Photographer. I make people tap tyheir feet and say cheese!
