  1. AWESOME TTK, except for the date alignment. Do you have a photobucket site or web site I can browse? I am just crazy for TAGs....and I don't know why? I think they make some of the BEST looking watches out.
  2. "Shut down the park! My watch fell of on the roller coaster!!!!!!"
  3. I just wanted to put in the good word for bestjewelryexpo on ebay. I know a lot of guys around here like to find Gens at good deals, and I can at elast vouch that the watch I received from him is a genuine Chopard Happy Sport dated 2001. This is from Chopard themselves. It is in great condition too...but missing the spare links so I hope it fits my wife! I was a bit nervous as to what I'd receive. The guy has his phone# in the auctions too. I spoke with Vladimir and he said he gets all types of pre owned watches in. He even had a 42mm PO go recently for $1400. He also said they usually go for about $1600-1700 and he is going to keep his eye out for a clean one for me (see what buying a toy for the wife can do! ) Well. I just wanted to post my impressions here because when I was stressing about buying I searched hi and low and found nothing. Buying gens on ebay is SCARY!
  4. Oil the bracelet and you will be much ahppier. it is night and day. When you get it it is gritty and squeaky. Oil it and it is identical to Gen.
  5. WOW. What should I say to him to try and coax him into getting me just a bracelet for my EL TT Sub? that's the only thing I don't like about my watch. ...plus, I am already gettimg some slight fading of the gold on my midlinks (after only a month). I need one of these new bracelets! Since River had the same ner TT that EL had I am guessing the gold on this one will match pretty well.
  6. They do not tick...they "roll" around. they are not in liquid, but the motion of the swirling is not unlike it. Imagine a mounting with a sharp pont on the bottom and a round circumference edge on the top. The two pieces of saphhire are just far enough apart that the diamond starts to lean over in it's mounting. The circumference edge then just comes in contact with the top crystal on one edge, and as the diamond moves it "rolls" on the top edge causeing it to spin quickly, and swirl around. the swirling looks like dancing, and the spinning causes the diamond to sparkle in motion. A very neat effect that just can't be appreciated in pictures.
  7. Saw the gen at Torneau today. It was brown with a brown leather strap. A VERY sharp watch. The TTK rep above has two 60 second dials (12 and 6). the gen has a 10/20/30 dial at 12 and 3/6/9/12 dial at 6. Still this TTk watch looks fantastic. When can we have it? And again, how much>
  8. Well. I ended up buying the Gen. Got it for $2300! She will happy for years with this watch. After seeing it in person I can see why there is no rep...and probably won't be a good one ever. The floating diamonds have a rolling pivon on the bottom, so they lean with the circumference of the top of the mounting resting it's edge on the top crystal. When the watch moves the diamonds spin on the axis and twirl around as though they are dancing. It is actually rather impressive. The diamonds seem to be alive...running around in chaotically like little sprakling creatures. It was a lot for a quartz...but my wife could care less about the movement...and again, I'll admit I was rather impressed by the dancing diamonds. I am sure any rep of this watch would fail to get the diamonds to dance like that!
  9. "Even buying in Guangzhou Watchworks quantities, these things are not nickles and dimes. The watch has to cost more than $100 to make . . . and the manufacturer doesn't sell it to our dealers at their cost." Not sure about that. It's almost obscene how inexpensively things can be made in CN. STudio microphones that are clones of German mics costing several thousand make their way to the US at prices lower than $30 a piece...and that includes built in profit, import fees, taxes...and whatever else. You'd think that just the brass body and grille, which is then nickel plated, would cost more than that...never mind the capsule, preamp circuit, assembly, etc. ...not to mention the aluminum flight case and free mic cable. I'd imagine, aside from the ETA movement, the parts these things are made of are pretty darn cheap. I would also bet they are getting the movements for less than $40 or $50 (and even that may be a high estimate).
  10. Yes yes! Is this available yet? TTK Do you have a photo site of the reps you "offer"?
  11. Whi is carrying a Miyota version? I have only seen ETA and Asian.
  12. Nice work. Too bad ebay doesn't have more of an opinion on the selling of fakes masquerading as real. Of course, any "aware" buyer should be able to tell if the auction is real or not. crappy pictures, 0 feedback, and absolutely no information regarding the watch's origin or authenticity should have been red flags long before the white dayte, too low He valve, and short minute hand....never mind the cardboard loooking strap.
  13. This is why reps get a bad rap. I wish there were somethign I could do to help these poor unsuspecting folks.... http://cgi.ebay.com/Omega-Planet-Ocean_W0Q...1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/OMEGA-SEAMASTER-Planet...1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/AUTHENTIC-OMEGA-SEAMAS...1QQcmdZViewItem Luckily for those in the know the short minute hand is an easy spot...if the shady auction and "missing" origin details don't scare you off. I just wish there was a way to warn these people. Someone is going to pay $700 for that first POS!
  14. "Nice watch. Is it real?" - "I sure hope so! It cost me enough" "Nice watch...to bad it's a fake..." - "What make you think it's a fake?" (if "becuase you can't afford real" then "ake another look and tell me if you're sure about that" ---- if "because the rehaut is too shallow, the minute hand is too short, and the lume is too uneven" then "Far out...what reps do you have, this is one of my favorites") "Nice watch. How much was it..." - "More than enough...but you can't understand he true value of a nice watch until you own one." Bottom line...I wear reps, and nobody has ever called me out. I have even gotten complement on cheap canal street reps. If someone indicates they know enough to know its a rep then i fess up and start taling about reps. Not many people have seen reps as good as what we get here...not even many dealers. It's amazing how many people just casually glance at your wrist and change the way they treat you...especially in stores like Mayors. I just love it when they rush over to my wife and I and start pulling out watches...usually we'll get a "that's a mighty fine watch you're already wearing... have you seen this model.... (on with sales pitch). You know, when I wear my real TAG nobody notices anything. When I wore my TERRIBLE canal street Tag people complemented it all the time it seems. My Rolly reps get the most attention. Nobody has ever attempted to call them out after verifying the 28.8k second hand.
  15. Excellent. Deep rehaut. Where do I sign up, and how much is it gonna cost me?
  16. My wife is salivating over this one with the floating diamonds. She doesn't care if it's real or a rep...so anyone know where to find decent rep of this? It'll save me $5700 to put towards my reps! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...me=STRK:MEWA:IT
  17. Joshua's newest TAG Link reps have the 28,800 bph version. you can clearly see it in the picture wit the rear casing off as well. I am soon to have one on the way for my dad.
  18. Got mine! I love it! The green color looks spot on to me, unlike some which are too 'forresty". Anyone know where I can source a more accurate dial though? I am annoyed by the minute ticks being all the same thickness (should be thinner between the markers) and the bold m. Also, the S in submariner is a little slanted, and the crown could be a little truer I think. Date looks excellent, insert looks nice...even the pearl is nice. Lume is great on this one. Way better than my EL TT. Even the pearl glows brightly right after charging. I use my bearded dragon's UV light to charge the lume, and within a 10 second charge the watch lights up very brightly.
  19. I think there are pins in the last links on each side. Remove that link, and the next link in the series should pull apart and come off. Each link is held on by the link below it, which ends up being held by the last link by the clasp.
  20. Agreed. For the record, those pics were courtesy of JaynKay. I only posted them because he was having trouble getting them to display in the board. I love my EL TT.
  21. the markers are faceted and highly polished. Those anomolies are due to reflections. My Gen Aquaracer does the same thing in pix sometimes. I might get that one for my Dad. It looks 9from the pix) like this one has the new (and hailed by Zig) version of the 7750. Joshua has confirmed the beat is 28,000. can anyone confirm or disconfirm that this is the new movement. A trip to The Zigmeister and this might be one of the most reliable chrono reps out.
  22. The quartx Aquaracer rep doesn't have a funtioning chrono. I have not seen an auto with working chrono either of this watch, but the Link based on the 7750 has a working chrono (sec at 9).
  23. Spring drive is a hybrid quartz/automatic. It does not tick at all...it is a true continous sweep motion. A quartz crystal couples to a spring brake which regulates the unwinding of the spring, which is directly coupled to the mechanicals of the watch. there are not microticks at all. the movement is like that of a motorized wall clock. the quartz circuit in the springdrive does not need a battery however. the winding rotor not only winds the spring, but also drives a small generator which fills a capacitor with enough energy to power the quartz driven brake mechanism. Spring drive is he first true innovation in mechanical watches since the auto winding movement. As far as the PO. I saw the Gen today (wonderful!!!) and it does have more of a tick than a rolex. I assume the gen is actually running at 21.6 and not 28.8. The above comment about the increased reserve sounds like a feasable reason.
  24. I'm with you on thet one. Unfortunately I think it's the date wheel overlays that are the problem. On my EL Sub the date is aligned until the 20's, and then it rests on the bottom of the date window. I noticed that hte GEN has a slightly larger date opening, so maybe hey are decreasing their chances of lining up correctly with small windows...?
  25. Yes. I heard only IWC and Daytona with small seconds on 6. Can somebody confirm that the new TAG chronos are officially using this movement? If they are (not the b or b1) then one will be on its' way to me shortly! I hope they sort out the Daytona issues soon too. It seems like it would certainly be the MOST popular rep if not for the 13 gear thing.
