My Omega SMP 'Bond' - tiny review!

I recently ordered a SMP from my supplier, come on, what watch collection is called a collection without this one!:) Being a relative newbie, I don't know much about specifics about watches I'm interested in, I do what I can to research them and make sure I don't end up with a watch that's too flawed. I'm not someone who demands 100% accuracy so small imperfections don't bother me :)

So far, all my reps have asian movements, and they do me just fine :) I just don't see the point of spending an extra $100+ just so the seconds 'beat smoother', and a few improved cosmetic aspects of the watch such as the datefont or dial printing etc.

I told my supplier to source me this, with the marker at 3:00 and to make sure the clasp is engraved rather than etched. That's it! He's by no means a watch specialist so all the details I require come from me. I was quite pleased when I received this one, it had the hour marker at 3:00 and the clasp was engraved :)

Are there flaws? Of course there are! The pearl is by no means perfect, I'm sure others more skilled than me can pick out other faults. The dial printing won't obviously be spot on, the date font is completely off! However one thing I love about this watch is that the date switches exactly at 12:00 on the dot!

I think the bezel is too dark also, compared to other replicas I have seen on this board, but it's not too bad. The markers are too green also, it might not be clearly seen in these pictures as I turned up the exposure but its more green than a lot of the other reps I have seen! The dial wave isn't strong either but it's ok.

Well there you have it, my first ever Bond SMP! I also got the Planet Ocean which is on my wrist right now as I type, it has become one of my favourites since I got :) I might make a small review of it also. Thanks! Onto the pictures:

Nice one, I find the bracelet being of rather good quality for the price (I used to have the black 007 SMP). And I agree, simple Asian movements are good enough for reps, if not very good. Take the Miyota 8215 clone, it's even VERY good.

If I didn' t know better, I'd've said that was my watch  Looks to me like your supplier got it from the same factory as DeesWatches goes to... (the thing that gives it away as the same as mine, is the height of the depth rating compared to the rest of the text)

Absolutely awesome watch, wear it well :):1a:

Thanks TeeJay :) They may very well be from the same factory but my date font is different to yours, my one is way off and you're one is more gen like ;)

I can see why this watch is one of the favourites amongst the replica watch community, these are stunners in person :)

I have to admit, I don't think the datefont on my 2531.80 is that accurate to gen, but I'd say the rest of our watches was identical. Perhaps the factories are using a different source of movements/datewheels. :)
