jnagy Posted March 6, 2008 Report Share Posted March 6, 2008 i have been trying to figure this out.can an eta 2893-1 with a rotating 24hr world timer disk be modified by removing the disk and replacing it with a regular hand?would that make it a 2893-2 or are there other differences?i know they are same size and have same amount of jewels.if that is the case you can get watches with the 2893-1 at some places for below the cost of the 2893-2 movement. One would have to have a 2893-1 in hand, and order the necessary parts for the 2893-2 to see if they can be swapped to know for sure. It "could" be as easy as just swapping the Universal hour Indicator disc from the 2893-1 with the 24Hrs Hour wheel fromt the 2893-2. Everything looks the same with the exception of those two parts.
