It comes with the crown tube loose How do you press the crown tube into the crown tube hole in the case? Do you need any special tools or techniques for this? I used a small vise called a panavise. I use it to hold the items that I am going to grind and polish. but I also use it, the press attachment and other homemade attachments to press crystals, bezels, and tubes into place. A great $40 investment....or two pieces of padded wood and a big vice with a large amount of being careful.

How do you remove an old crown tube from a case??? I tried in order to fit a Davidsen crown + tube, but I have never been able in doing it.
chris5264 Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 I have a case and tube from jimmy and just pressed it in by holding the movement and pushing the tube against my table. It didn't seem to take much pressure to put it in. to remove I just used a pair of pliers. I think most of the panerais are just pushed in, but some are actually screwed in so you have to be careful.
speedy1 Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Did the pliers mar the surface of the tube very badly?
chris5264 Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Did the pliers mar the surface of the tube very badly? No, not really but in my case the tube wasn't normally visable. If it was I would just tape it up before.

Thanks Chris. So far, I gave out right after the first few attempts with pliers as it seemed not work and because I was afraid to scratch the tube's end (just in case the new tube would not fit). Now I'll try with renewed energy. And thanks for the advice on possibly screwed in tubes, I had no thought about it.
