perry563
I bought in 2000 a Rolex two tone datejust on a jubilee bracelet while on a trip to Hong Kong. I very very rarely wear this watch and its in new condition with only the very slightest hairline scratches ...just a few and only on the clasp and barely noticable..the watch really is like new. So new that the green rolex sticker is still on the back and even that is in new condition. (perfect) It has a gold dial with Roman numerals and a non double locking clasp. I am not interested in selling but was wondering what a watch like this is worth. I know a new 2008 DJ like mine is now in the $8000 range. I had it serviced by Rolex a few years ago and it tells pefect time. Any Rolex experts venture a guess as to what its worth?

perry563
Thats my watch! However mine was bought in 2000 so it has the old style case (thinner lugs) and the non safety SS clasp. I looked on ebay and I dont see any older TT datejusts with a bid! Also I doubt if any DJ from 2000 would be in the condition mine is in. Not a nick, dent...its just like new. Never polished...I just run it under the faucet and wipe dry after wearing. and I only wear on very special occasions. Also have the box, all paperwork, original reciept and even the polishing cloth it came with. I remember when I bought this in HK in 2000 this same watch was selling for 5200 plus tax all over the US...did not matter where you went it was the same price. Anyone want to guess what I paid for it at the most well known jeweler in HK?

Anyone want to guess what I paid for it at the most well known jeweler in HK? I was just in HK this past Fall...There are Rollie dealers EVERYWHERE...Both AD and non-AD. They are very competitive on pricing, so I would dare say you paid in the low $3K range?
Guest porsche356a
...so I would dare say you paid in the low $3K range? Agreed. These are selling in a $2500-$3500USD Range. You can check theBay or TZ as well.
perry563
I paid 3600 and no tax. In the US the price was 5200 plus say 6% sales tax so thats around 5500 total. I saved nearly 2000 bucks. Whats interesting is that in the US at that time you could not find a Rolex dealer that discounted the price. It was $5200 in NY, NJ, CT, Vegas, Chicago etc etc. I went to China for two weeks in 2000 on business and finished up in HK. never thought I would end up buying a Rolex but when I saw the price I could not resist. I went again to HK in 2003 and looked for 2 days all around the "Times Square" of the city where I found one watch store after another. I had 1000 cash to spend on a watch and I ended up getting a rado ceramic quartz which retail was around $1600. If I had to do it all over again I would have looked at the Subs and bought one if the price was right. At the time my interest was in "dress" watches and not sport watches and this is why I never even bothered to look.

alligoat
I'm with porsche and dudro, $3000-3500. The good news is, in eight years it hasn't depreciated much. A retail dealer miight price it for $4000-4500, but you're not a retail dealer and on ebay, stuff goes for wholesale, for the most part. Rep's 2200 Euros at todays rate is right around $3450.
