Chronus
Looks like it's been PVD'd aftermarket? I don't remember it originally coming out as a PVD. The caseback will tell you if it's RXW so ask the seller for a caseback photo. Otherwise looks like RXW... they originally came out for $1000 (I think?) but the value went up as they were sold out quickly. A lot cheaper than a genuine PAM127 and will hold it's value compared to a rep.
bbell6
I've seen the regular SS ones going for about $1500, so that means you would be paying $1400 for the aftermarket PVD job if Chronus is right about it not being original.
peepshow
AFAIK, there were never any MM20s offered in PVD from Ken Trading/RXW. So this is aftermarket PVD, most likely. I've seen MM20s selling on BigWatchForum.com for $1200-1500, so yeah it's overpriced, IMO. You can get a Swiss 6497 powered PVD MM20 from Davidsen for ~$400. Real Swiss 6497, real sapphire, etc. Food for thought.... Edited March 31, 2008 by peepshow
PAMman
Really no idea if this is a genuine RXW that has been PVD'd but be careful as these have also been repped fairly accurately. The price seems completely OTT as you are almost into the range of a used genuine Panerai 001D, particularly one that has had a 'normal' life. I would prefer a well used gen 001D which would be a good basis for a PVD project.

tanya
Dont think it's a Gen RXW, more fake RXW MM's out there than you can shake a stick at. The Gen RXW MM 20 should say L-Swiss on the dial this one does not. See mine for comparison. As far as whether a gen RXW MM20 is worth the price ?? It would depend on the price. $1200 - $1600.00 for the later production with tight lever and more importantly AR coated Sapphire crystal then I would say definately!!!! Alot of watch, holds it's value and they are out of production meaning they will likely only go up in price (especially the sapphire models) The Connolly strap is easilly as nice as anything Mario Paci makes. The Ford Fame box with Bergeron tools are a very nice touch. I know there are a few gen PVD RXW's floating around out there that started out as gen RXW's before Industrial Watch Works coated them a few years back during the beginning of the PVD craze. This one however looks to be a modded cheapie.

I think the question is if a PVD MM20 would be worth $2900. I don't think so. Like you said, $1200-1600 -- that would make the PVD job $1300-1700. I know IWW will do the job for about $600. Seems a bit pricey to me. Oh and I agree that this looks to be a fake.
