Tom
I've got a gold plated watch that I want to polish up, as its looking a bit tired and has a few surface scratches. I have a Cape Cod cloth, but it urges you not to use it on Gold plated items. I assume becuase it will rub it off? Is there anything anyone can recommend out there that I can use which is good for polishing gold plated reps?
narikaa
Polish as in regaining colour / removing tarnish....all suppliers inthe Far East use a little of this powder and a soft cloth (magic stuff it is too): As youre in UK if you want some just let me know But scratches are a whole different ball game...they are by nature cuts into the surface (of a very thin layer of gold) and to remove them you've got to polish away the surrounding metal past the deepest point... RISKY .
Sir-Lancelot
One day me, a cape cod, and a rose gold plated VC sat down and had a little chat. Long story short it ended with me buying another rep. I wash the replacement with soap & water and try to ignore the little scratches. narikaa would know, so I would take his advice.
