The Modding sickness! Is this You as well?

Wondering... how many of us are there? I mean really?

You know who I mean. If you are a "perfectionist" that wants the absolute ultimate watch, in your heart at least. Well, I am one of them for sure. My MBW 1680 will not be perfect until I hunt down a gen dial and have it installed. I am now convinced I need to do this. Is the watch nice with everything else I've done to it? Sure the hell is. BUT... is it "perfect"? Nope. Not until I have a gen dial.

So... what is a wack-job like me to do? I mean I go back and forth and say... "Well, it is a great watch without the gen dial. BUT, imagine how great it'd be WITH a gen dial". So... here I am... with this constantly on my mind. Is this normal? I mean to be thinking about a watch dial every hour or so each day? Am I Mad?... or am I just a watch "perfectionist"?

Hmmmmmmmm.... ;)

I understand. I had a similar obsession with my 16710.

Fortunately, it doesn't need as many parts as the 1680 MBW to be extremely close.

Perfect? Never. Only a gen will suffice.

I'm actually happy that I never really got the vintage bug. Modding the MBWs is a damn expensive route.

I, too, have experienced this type of behavior. And I feel that it is somewhere between infatuation and obsession.

I know I am a bit crazy when I look at the gen dial and it is a bit crisper in text, maybe 0.0000000002 cm to the left; etc. and I obsess over the search for one and when I actually receive it, I am slightly dissatisfied.

I guess it's not so much the actual receiving of the piece, but the search thereof gives me the thrill.

I am happy to report that I have not been bitten by the modding bug. Does this mean I am not a perfectionist? Far from it! I just feel that a rep is a rep and not worth the investment. I tend to study a watch before buying, and if there is anything that I know will bug me, I just wont buy it. If a rep has extremely weak lume, I'll have it redone, and I'll gladly have AR added, but beyond that I'll live with what I've got.

I believe that modding is the part I like most, even if I know that sometimes I'm a little bit obsessed..

I've an AD beside my office, and everyday at lunch break I take a look at their sub from the shop window (I cannot enter every time), and compare it to the one on my wrist.

Their sub is the same, the one on my wrist too :)

But we have to understand that as a member wrote some months ago, that

A replica is always a replica.

You can put a tuxedo on a pig.

It might look better.

...but you still have a pig

Most true sentence ever read :p
