Crystal Size Conversion

Davey

Recommended Posts

Davey,

A lot of the old crystals are marked in " Lignes" ( French sizing I beleive) so the crystal has a sticker saying for instance... 12 7/16... this would be a 281 mm dia crystal, according to this chart.

Another link is the PDF from GS, although this pertains to GS crystals specifically.

If you want to delve more in to GS crystals, spend some time on their site.

I am still getting my head around the whole crystal thing... ( and have some ways to go yet)

More great info can be found here-

But please don't get on the NAWCC forum ( or any others ) and mention reps :bangin:

Good hunting,

Let us all know what you finally find.

281mm is 28.1 centimeters thats a big crystal!

I assume these values need dividing by 10?

I've not got the crystal so cant reference it, I can only measure the hole :)

Indeed... excuse us convicts from downunder, who have only recently converted to metrics :) ( about 20 years ago) Having been schooled in imperial, the old brain never thinks of the "real" size.

Yes... that would indeed be 28.1mm'

BTW, there is a formula for the size of crystal required, against the measured hole... I normally just go up one size ( most fit, but I break the odd one) Spend some time reading on the NAWCC site... valuable info.
