aspartam Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 http://www.trustytime88.com/index.php?main...roducts_id=3079 $128 Not bad. With sapphire and AR coating, and Solid Stainless Steel 316L I like this one!
Ztech Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 What's the difference with the other one that costs so much more? I did notice that this one has a closed caseback.
andreww Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 This is a cheap quartz rep of the Automatic 7750 version. Funnily enough there is actually a quartz model of the Carerra that has already been repped. That one costs more than the 7750 model
Ztech Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 A quartz model costing more than an auto version???
gregers Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 Is it the same case as the 7750/Swiss quartz version but with a cheap quartz instead? If it is, then this is a very good buy. No point at all in paying for the expensive quartz. The cheapo variants do exactly the same job and can be replaced for pennies if they crap out.
Guest farquar Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 Correct me if im wrong but isnt the expensive quartz version totally a different model?.. This seems to be a cheap alternative to the flat 6 auto..Different dial spacing because of the movement and a closed caseback. Not accurate to the gen but seems like a good deal nonetheless...

You're right. The expensive quartz is a different model and has -just like the gen- a nice complication: Split seconds and two stop functions.
aspartam Posted July 16, 2008 Author Report Posted July 16, 2008 You're right. The expensive quartz is a different model and has -just like the gen- a nice complication: Split seconds and two stop functions. eh...What is split seconds and two stop function? But is the cheap quartz accurate?
Guest farquar Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 eh...What is split seconds and two stop function? Two stopwatches controlled independently? But is the cheap quartz accurate? Not really...Different subdial spacing the most obvious flaw imo...automatic text missing on the dial(At least they are honest )..Closed caseback etc etc...But if youre not anal about 1:1 to gen thing(These are all Chinese knockoffs afterall right?) this do seems like a good deal.
chefcook Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 Split seconds: The right subdial above 3 o clock will show the tenths of your stopped time. Actually the expensive quartz 6340 it is a quartz rattrapante! The movement, that is used both in gen and rep is a very fine piece of quartz timing.
gregers Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 Is it not basically the same as this 7750 mechanical version? Looks very similar. http://www.trustytime88.com/index.php?main...roducts_id=2315
