I've been messing around with the finish of CGs and here's how they turned out compared to gen. I used the wire insulator method for a nice tight lever in the open position too. If I can add a suggestion... as your lever pins look not perfectly flush with the CG surface, I suppose they are a little too short... In this case, if you make them flush with the upper surface of the CG, sacrificing alignment with the back surface, you may achieve an even better look on the wrist. On the gen CG's it is interesting that the historic and the fiddy type brushed cg's have perfectly flush pins. But none of my older gens have anywhere near a flush pin. Some are a little high, some a little low, etc. Of course this is due to use as well as fit and finish but the level of finish on the brushed cg pins is so much better. I guess they are getting better at making watches. The rubber tube is a great fix as well. But no gen I have ever tried has it. The ones I have tried just have a better pin and lever level of finish. Yeap Warren.. both my early series and H series gen cgs have rubber between the lever and hole. It is a separate MX number the rubber part. Also, my measure of success isn't too stringent. 1. Did I break anything taking it apart? No? Woohoo! 2. Can I put everything back together? Yes? Yeehaw! 3. Do I have "spares" after everything is back together? Yes? Uh oh. 4. Does it still work? 5. Does it look worse than before? No? Whoopee! 6. Do I have to sheepishly email The Zigmeister? It's really too simple to post a tutorial on it - just strip some wire and line the CG lever hole with the insulator you've removed. Put everything back together very patiently.
