slai
I think I finally found a mod I'm somewhat successful at without ending with a sheepish email to The Zigmeister or a please help me post. I've been messing around with the finish of CGs and here's how they turned out compared to gen. I used the wire insulator method for a nice tight lever in the open position too. sssurfer
The finish looks extremely good to me. Also the loose lever fix is completely invisible so it is excellent, congrats! If I can add a suggestion... as your lever pins look not perfectly flush with the CG surface, I suppose they are a little too short... In this case, if you make them flush with the upper surface of the CG, sacrificing alignment with the back surface, you may achieve an even better look on the wrist. cskent69
Wow - they look great. I wish that someone would do a tutorial on the wire insulator fix. I would like to know how to do that...
Watchmeister
Looking good. Sssurfer is absolutely right. Push the pin up. On the gen CG's it is interesting that the historic and the fiddy type brushed cg's have perfectly flush pins. But none of my older gens have anywhere near a flush pin. Some are a little high, some a little low, etc. Of course this is due to use as well as fit and finish but the level of finish on the brushed cg pins is so much better. I guess they are getting better at making watches. The rubber tube is a great fix as well. But no gen I have ever tried has it. The ones I have tried just have a better pin and lever level of finish. I was curious a while back so I actually took apart a couple and looked. Do any of the gens actually have rubber tubes?

Yeap Warren.. both my early series and H series gen cgs have rubber between the lever and hole. It is a separate MX number the rubber part. slai
If I can add a suggestion... as your lever pins look not perfectly flush with the CG surface, I suppose they are a little too short... Lever pins on gens aren't completely flush with the top surface (at least not that I've observed). The first 2 pics are of my gen. The 87 is a little lower than it should though. Also, my measure of success isn't too stringent. 1. Did I break anything taking it apart? No? Woohoo! 2. Can I put everything back together? Yes? Yeehaw! 3. Do I have "spares" after everything is back together? Yes? Uh oh. 4. Does it still work? 5. Does it look worse than before? No? Whoopee! 6. Do I have to sheepishly email The Zigmeister? It's really too simple to post a tutorial on it - just strip some wire and line the CG lever hole with the insulator you've removed. Put everything back together very patiently. As kruzer said, I now suppose that even on gens a perfect flush is rarely achieved.
RWG Technical
Well done, they look great. And I can double the confirmation that the gen does have the rubber tube like the JimmyFu ones did... RG
slai
Thanks RG!!! I tinkered around with V's 1:1 CG today. I like the way it turned out - now I just need a watch to put it on.
