Why only rep ETA or Valjoux movements ?

Good question. Although for me the question was why not more Seagull movements in particular as opposed to Miyota or other brands? I remember a thread where a bunch of us were discussing UN Diver reps and of course being based on the 2892 we were trying to figure out why not do that watch for one with a ST26 which of course is Seagull 2892 clone. I had an Omega Aqua Terra rep with that movement and it looked pretty good with its disply caseback and when decorated this movement looks surprisingly close to the 2892. BTW, the handwind chronograph developed from the Venus 175, often inaccurately refered to as a "Lemania" movement, which Pug speaks of I believe is the Seagull ST19. Anyway, that movement has been in several reps and is extremely reliable in several reps I have had, one of which is a VC Malte rep that I still have. I also believe The Zigmeister has given his nod of approval for these in terms of overal quality and reliability. But I guess we all probably know that by now. Anyway, anyone else wonder why with what would seem to be an abundant and local supply why the rep facttories don't use more Seagull movements? They seem a nice alternative to ETA if availability is in fact challenged and they are most certainly cheaper.

I was wondering too why it has to be mostly eta as especially for reps it would be suitable to have an other reliable movement without this magic name "eta". It might have something to do with marketing too, because eta is one of the movements which is well known to general public. Maybe it is also easier for rep factories to have a source for eta even if also the movements are copies sometimes. I
