Quality of A7750 - some opinions from watchsmiths

I left my brandnew A7750 watch for a service to a certified watchsmith ( replicafriendly ! ) here in Sweden since my datewheel was misaligned . At the same time I wanted it totally serviced. She has never worked with an A7750 only ETA7750 and I asked for general opinions about it since it is so much discussed here at RWG.

She said A7750 was very close to the gen and it was not obviously worse. But the material was of lesser quality than the gen (

(I don't work with the movements but I think it's strange and a short period - 5 years: I have an old BMW with automatic gear. BMW refuses to open it up and change oil.

You are not supposed to change the oil at all since it has a lifetime durabality.)

Off topic which I apologise for but BMW specialists DO RECOMMEND you change the auto gearbox oil if you want to ensure the longevity of the box. BMW says it has a lifetime durability- however they also reckon their cars should last for a minimum of 150K miles. I think most of us expect more than that out of one and if you want the gearbox to work effeciently I'd suggest finding a specialist to change it. Oil deteriorates with age and use and that fact is not something BMW can change.

Well you do get an excellent replication of the ETA workhorse. Ziggy has reviewed the unaltered version many times and vouches for its mechanical soundness and robustness once serviced. The question is, is $400 every 7 years for a quality service worth it in a replica. As for my Navitimer, which has had custom work to make it close to perfect...yes it is as would be a standard service or the movement in my MBW which carries a significant investment of aftermarket parts and work. As for my SFSO???? I dont think so...I agree with those who suggested just pitch it and start new.

BTW...have 2 21 jewel Seikos...a diver and a Folex President. One is 11 years old...the other 15. They both run like tops accurate to about 15 seconds a day. Why can't the swiss do this?
