Hiya guys, I am heading over to zurich next weekend for a holiday with my wife. Seeing as I am going to be there for 3 days, anyone know any places in Zurich that might sell good repz? is it too risky to seek repz in zurich?

Apart from the reps, anyone got any suggestions on places to go and things to see whilst we are there? I was thinking about getting the train from Zurich to go and see other parts as well, any good recomendations?

hehe, yea i guess searching for a rep in zurich seems like an improbable task. this is the fist time we are going there. Does zurich have a 3 day pass sort of thing that we can buy for traveling around? Anyone been there? i would love to get some "tourist to do" info.. hehe

you recon its safe to wear my SOSF eta for the visit or are they @n@l about people wearing reps? Am i better off sticking to a gen quartz or something?

Go downtown and enjoy some fondues (cheese or meet). Take a tour around the train station and wolk the commecial street which starts there (Train Station stree is named, in German, for sure). This street has one of the biggest number of watch stores by square meter. Enjoy!

Yeah check out all the gen watches in the store windows. That alone would get my blood flowing.

that is my intention indeed, hence I chose Zurich.. :thumbsupsmileyanim: . you recon the gens are any cheaper in Zurich? do they ever have a sale or anything? Also, would it be advisable to wear my SFSO whilst I am there?

You should be fine wearing your watch out and about, but as a general rule, I NEVER wear a rep into any AD. I consider it bad form. I slip it in my pocket then try on all the watches I'm interested in.

I normally visit zurich a couple of times each year, I enjoy the spring and after-summer most, was there in beginning of july, to damn hot (+29c and humid).

Anyhow, you have to walk down entire bahnhofstrasse, got a lot of good watch-stores.

I went in and tried on some IWC's with my BCE v2 on =)

Also, rent a boat and do a small trip on Lake Zurich and also walk through the parks around the lake out to Cape Zurich and the casino..

Last time I stayed in Park Hyatt, really nice hotell. Also been at Eden au Lac.. also good.

Zurich is divided in two parts, the financial+shopping on one side of the river and the old town on the other.. really really great town. I think Zurich is the only place Ive been to that I actually could consider to move to.

Regarding reps, you will probably find none. On the other hand you will se every high-end car brand there is,.. Astons, Ferraris, Lambos, MB S600, Audi R8's, Porsches are the only cars allowed in the city ;) well you know what I mean..

I didnt find the gens that much cheaper than in any other european country though. Was going to spend some money on a watch but stayed with my BCE v2 instead ;) mhaha

Have a nice stay,

@tazzman:

lovely pics and excellet advice mate, I am sure I will be doing a lot of walking and taking in the scenery. I have always wanted to go to zurich but needed equally good company to go with. Now is the time I guess. I am looking forward to visiting the old town, I love old architecture.. I was looking into booking Hyatt too, but ended up booking the Novotel Zurich Airport Messe.

Yeah, everytime I visit the gen AD, I take my watch off prior to entering the AD shop, saves the hassle and paranoia. I guess the SOSF is going for a zurich trip afterall..

@jkerouac:

Cheers for the tip mate, I am sure we will be stopping by for some tipple..

Wife is a veggie and I am kinda semi veg, so I hope our choices isnt limited to eating cheese and tomato baguettes hehe..

@takashi:

I was planning on taking the train down to geneve and check out the city.. do u know how far it is on the train from Zurich?

Trains can get you just about anywhere in Switzerland in a flash -- my wild-assed guess would be not more than 90 minutes from Zurich to Geneva by train. You don't have to stick to the major cities either. Many of the great ski towns are also very easy to get to.

Hi

I live in a village about 60km to zurich. First of all: LEAVE YOUR REPS AT HOME! Since 1st of July, there's a new law in switzerland, that allows the customs to seize all reps at the airport and destroy them. Because this law is new, they will take care about this very strong! So it's better to travel without a rep and enjoy the gen watches in zurich. I recommand you to look at them at the "bahnhofstrasse" (train station street). You can't fail it. Just ask some people at the trainstation.

I wish you a some nice days here in switzerland!

Thomas

I agree with LordRasta, the best thing would be to enjoy the amazing gens in the AD shops, and leave your rep in your pocket when you enter an AD. About the new law, I think that even in Switzerland the Customs officials are not checking the wrists of everyone to look for reps, before stamping your passport. If you wear a high quality rep how could they tell it's a rep? They have a watch expert in the airport? and if it's a present you received how could you know that it's a rep? They can seize a watch for checking and let you know after a week? This is really funny.

Surely, they won't check every tourist if he's wearing a rep. But in my opinion, i wouldn't take the risk to loose my baby, especially not at the moment. But everbody has to handle it by himself...
