Guest hoopty
Well I just dove into another project without much of a know how, if it's even possible. I just picked up a GEN Black SMP Dial at the fluke of the moment, really cheap with some lume problem with the 2o'clock marker which doesn't bother me. So I am here asking you all if I can even make a near perfect franken SMP? *I already know I am going to need a good case that maybe able to support a GEN bezel. *I plan to use basic swiss 2824-2 for time keeping and hope it will accept GEN hands *Case back is another one of my concern as I dont know, if a decent case back exists. *If the REP crystal will be fine? or will I have to source a genuine one and is there AR on the GEN? Is all this is even possible at a reasonable price and from who or where can I source parts from? (already checked Ofrei) and will the end product be anything close to as good looking as the genuine? Thank You ahead for your suggestions and time in making this possible.
b16a2
I've seen a couple of franken SMP's and they do look very good. However, it is difficult, if not near impossible to source the older case set that has the correctly positioned He valve. Gen bezel does fit, as do the hands if you use the Swiss option. The gen only has an internal AR coating that gives no kind of hue. In all honestly, for the money you are looking to spend it is worthwhile buying a used quartz gen.
