Pugwash Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 Without a doubt, hands down winner: WALL-E. It's the best film since the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I await your scorn.
Marc283 Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 Wall-E looks a bit like Johny 5 from Short Circuit. A movie from the '80s i guess.
Chronus Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 Wall-E looks a bit like Johny 5 from Short Circuit. A movie from the '80s i guess. I agree about Johnny 5 is aliiiiiive! I haven't seen Wall-E (or Lord of the Rings).. but heard that it was supposed to be good. Guess I'll wait for a DVD release. For me, best movie in the cinema has been The Dark Knight... I did something I have never done before - seen it a second time! Admittedly it was at iMax and with a girl, but it was good 2nd time around too. Probably the best comic adaptation...
jetzeus Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 Couldn't agree more, Pug Took my eight-year-old to see it and we LOVED it. Great message(s)! Jet
iceberg1459 Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 wall-e was a cute film, but to be honest im for dark knight just because of the performance of heath ledger, he was just like christian bale in american pyscho or alpacino in scarface...oscar deserved (btw it really sucks that he died )
mansun Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 these two...........................
Pugwash Posted September 15, 2008 Author Report Posted September 15, 2008 The Dark Knight was a damned good film. We've had some great movies in the last few years, like Casino Royale, 300, Juno, La Vie En Rose, Grindhouse and Serenity, for example, yet WALL-E stands out even against great movies such as those, and that's a testament to its brilliance. Such simple storytelling done masterfully. I reckon it should be nominated for the "Best Movie" Oscar, as opposed putting it in the slam-dunk "animation" category.
Usil Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 I agree with those stated. I think the best ones may be later this year. But for 2007 - have you seen 'Once'? A small budget film but a great movie. Worthy renting or downloading. Usil
Chronus Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Thanks for some suggestions, I haven't seen some of those. And think I'll have to see Wall-E .. but a bunch of guys going to the cinema to watch that looks odd
Tom Hawkes Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 you can always pretend that you want to see it for the megababe with the big guns.. just watched it.. it was totally depressing..
