  1. Thanks Chief! Ya know, I just took a chance and just cranked on it with the 400grit sandpaper and it turned out great! Alls well that ends well! Thanks for the heads up though! Heck...here's a pic of the finished product!
  2. Hi all! I just got some 400 grit sandpaper out to sand down my 089 CG lever pin. Worked just fine, but I accidentally wore some of the masking tape off of the crown guard while sanding, so it was a bit scratched! So I got my polishing cloth out and polished it!! Well, now i have a polished crown guard on my 089!! Can I just resand it with the 400 grain sandpaper and bring it back to normal!?! What shall I use!?!? Thanks! Jet
  3. Thanks Jurgen! I'll give it a try! I'll post some pics too!
  4. Question...how did you file down the crown guard lever pin? Just got an 089 nd would like to do the same thing. Thanks!...JET
  5. This 111 is special...very special! Nice job! Did Vac make that CG lever pin THAT flush or did you? I'd love to know the secret...I have a newly acquired 089 that I need to get flushed and smoothed down like that. Let me know! Cheers! Jet
  6. I SOOOO WANT YOUR 113!!!!!! GRRRRRRR! How are you liking that thing, Chief?
  7. Yikes..what's with the white!?!?! That's just wrong!! Sacriligious!!!!
  8. Ouch, anton...this is my grail watch! I think this is the sexiest watch on the planet! Not sure if you have ever seen, held or worn the gen in person, but it is incredible. The rep folks will NEVER get this one perfect...the movement is in house, hand-wind and completely different from what is pictured for sale. This one has a long way to go but I am excited that they are trying! Jet PS...MOST watches, cars...luxury items in general, depreciate...mighty quickly, actually. If I had the coin, I'd buy the gen to this in a heartbeat and never regret it.
  9. Couldn't agree more, Pug Took my eight-year-old to see it and we LOVED it. Great message(s)! Jet
  10. Man, CBR, I don't think so!! This is pretty weird!! I get this screen that says something about an Apache server or something. Very strange. I guess I need to contact admin over there or something. I guess I will find out soon enough!!
  11. Or has RepGeek been down for like a week now? I split my time between here and there and it seems to be dead for quite some time now. Any ideas what's going on over there?
  12. GBC...somehow, you made that sound simple!!! I'll give it a try when I get back home!! Thanks a ton! Jet!
  13. Brilliant idea, Andy!! Thanks!
  14. Hi all, I have an Ajoesmith 03-92 that i wore to an amusement park with my daughter. She wanted to ride water rides all day and of course it got wet. Didnt think it would be a big deal, but apparently it was. I hve condensation on the inside of the crystal and the weird thing is the hands are wet..STILL!! We went almost two weeks ago!! Not sure how that is even possible. Anyway, Should I try to open this thing up and dry it out? I threw it on a floor register and blasted it with air conditioned air and it didnt do anything...but make it cold! Is it hard to open these up and better yet, is it hard to put em back together again...if you have no skill or experience!! Thanks! Jet
  15. Another one of my faves with a new buckle...had to share. Enjoy! Jet
  16. Well folks, Here it is...finally done. The specs are as follows: Angus PAM 292 with cannon pin fix and Superlume (havent tested that yet). The icing on the cake is the Red12 strap from Zack (red12straps.com). This transaction with Zack was awesome!! Great communication from the get-go and the strap...well, it is awesome! Here she is!
  17. My 292 will be delivered this week. I'll post some pics and let you know how it looks. The first pics that come out, though, won't be that great as the rep strap will be on it. In a week and a half, however, an Old Skool Red 12 special will be mated to it...should be enough to make you want to get your credit card out!! Stay tuned!! Jet
  18. I'm not judging at all, but I guess this is something I never understood. Why buy a watch and not wear it? I have the gen and wear the thing every single day, just about. Wear it to work, to play golf...you name it, it's on me! Will I scratch it? I'm sure at some point. I guess that is part of owning and wearing a watch. I'm rambling...just a thought. Enjoy that baby in the winder or however you want...it is beautiful wherever it sits!
  19. Yep...it totally looks ceramic...and awesome! Could you imagine it with the new ceramic bezel!?!?! Whoa!
  20. Maybe not the ULTIMATE pilot's watch, but I find it useful!
  21. Right there with ya, DT. I'm just curious to see how close it is to my gen!! Pulled the trigger a bit ago. What's the worst that could happen? I won't like it!?!?
  22. Guys...as an owner of a gen GMT2, I am actually going a little nutty on this one. I am ONE click away from buying one of these. To me, I have seen the pics and it is extremely close. Sylar hit the nail on the head with the CG's...nothing that cant be reworked. To me, TIME accuracy is also important. I would buy this to see how it kept time. My gen is off about a second per day. If I could keep it un der 5 seconds per day, with a rep this good, I just might sell the gen and keep $6k+ in my pocket. If I am not impressed when I get it, I could probably sell the watch I get at a premium with the "correct hand stack" version. This may be a super rep in the next year...maybe less. I am undecided and time is ticking before it sells out again.
  23. I have a gen...it looks pretty good to me.
  24. You would expect someone nicer?! We ARE talking about the same Hugh Grant that got caught with a nasty hooker in his car 10 years ago...right!?!?! After that, any expectations for him I ever had would go right out the window... I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this is a step up from the hooker though!
  25. Historically, I have only been a WEARER of watches, and of course before wearing them, a BUYER of them! This thread is great because I just told my wife the other night that I want to start building them! Knowing me as well as she does, she laughed her [censored] off...she knows that I am one of the least mechanical people on the planet!! But that doesn't make me want to do it any less. I am a perfectionist, so I know once I learn how to take them apart and put them together again, whatever I am going to make someday will be incredible. Oftentimes, I wonder just what it is about watches that fascinates me so much. I think time is such a finite commodity for all of us...at some point, each of us will run out of it! Why not have the correct time displayed on our own personalized, beautiful little timekeepers while we still have some left?
