piratedzeus Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 The larger, Co-Axial evolution of a space pioneer - The Moonwatch finally gets a date! We never get tired of saying it: the OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch is the only watch ever to have been worn on the Moon. The new Speedmaster Moonwatch "Enamel" respects the legendary design aesthetics of its famous ancestor and combines them with some distinctive features which give it its own unique personality. The Speedmaster Moonwatch "Enamel" has a 44.25 mm case, reflecting the current enthusiasm for large watches. It houses the exclusive self-winding OMEGA Co-Axial calibre 3313 whose Escapement and free sprung balance deliver long-term accuracy and reliability. The Speedmaster Moonwatch "Enamel" is a COSC-certified chronometer with a sophisticated column-wheel chronograph mechanism. The dial, created in brilliant black enamel, is the centrepiece of the watch's dramatic appearance. The date window at 6 o'clock also sets the Moonwatch "Enamel" apart from the Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. The Speedmaster Moonwatch "Enamel" pays homage to the Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch – there's a distinct family resemblance. However, its stunning enamel dial and its Co-Axial performance announce that this is a watch which would succeed on its own terms even without a celebrated relative! Thanks DVS for finding this...
jamesg Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 I really like this one... could be my first gen. Has anyone seen retail prices yet?
southcoast68 Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 I hope this does not mean that Omega is going to discontinue the original self wind speedy moon
Flashman Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Looks pants. The size is good, but the original dial is much better looking. Looks like Omega are milking as many of their line as possible at the moment. Here is another amended Speedmaster.
By-Tor Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 I hope this does not mean that Omega is going to discontinue the original self wind speedy moon Original Speedy Moon is for Omega what 911 is for Porsche. Not going to happen.
dluddy Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Original Speedy Moon is for Omega what 911 is for Porsche. Not going to happen. I agree, I think this is just a move to satisfy the "Automatic" crowd. Still a lot of new watch lovers that don'y like manual wind
By-Tor Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 I don't think it's wise for Omega to make so many different models. I mean, what's up with all those cheesy "Special Editions" of the SMP and PO? Stupid... the original Bond Seamaster is the coolest (without any 007 markings)... same with the PO. It's pretty silly to push those special editions, because Bond only wears the basic models in the movies anyway. Omega is a great brand, but they shouldn't go overboard with these variations. Keep it simple stupids!

Omega should stick to what they do best, and not dilute the classic marques with "cheesy" specials.
